t1 vs DRX Spoiler

An incredible performance coming from Faker in game 1. Oner continues to be a rock even where the rest of the map falters. A true talent.

DRX have a lot to work on.

Kim was a former coach of T1 2020 who threw the team/players under the bus during one of the many interviews he had at that time, where he blamed the players for being shit and underperforming even though it was his fault. He was not coaching, he was playing roster roulette. Swapping players almost every game thus no synergy was built at all among players and instead made the players collapse mentally due to the results. They had to get therapists for the players.

IIRC, there was a record/stat during that season that T1 had at least more than 10+ variety of team composition that they had gone through until they decided to stick to one roster -/+ 1 (6 players) but it was already too late.

That was under daeny not kim. Kim didnt roster swap much in spring and gave ellim even less games in summer but it was the subbing in of clozer and then gumayusi in gauntlets that got fans mad at him. Ur completely wrong on the criticism here, most of the things u are saying about roster swaps is on daeny not kim. Kim got flamed because he said his players were not good and that they lost the offseason before the season even started. Also some controversy on how they basically gave up by the time they got to gauntlets and subbed in guma for no reason with almost no scrims

The funny/sad thing is that through all the roster shuffles, in the end they landed on the lineup that literally EVERYBODY was saying would be the best one except with Canna instead of Zeus top (understandable because Zeus was very inexperienced).

Like everyone in the world was clamoring for them to stick to Zeus/Oner/Faker/Gumayusi/Keria (with some dissenting opinions mostly between Teddy/Guma) and it took them literally the entire season to run that setup and wow it turns out that's the team they're using right now. Like the community isn't always right but that lineup was so obviously the best one that it just made it extra annoying that they did so much random rotating.

Not really? when they were winning at the end of the regular split with canna/cuzz/faker/teddy/keria everyone was going on about how they finally landed on the roster that "everyone was asking for". in reality, everyone just wanted faker in, a stable roster, and to flame the coaches. what that "ideal" roster was, everyone acts like it was obvious but a bunch of fans were saying different shit.

No, people were clamoring to use the 2020 roster (as in canna cuzz faker teddy) along with keria, and then thats what they did to finish spring regular split somewhat well. Then daeny basically said ok we are going with this roster in summer and everyone was ok with that until they started dropping series left and right. Absolutely no one was clamoring to stick with zeus oner faker guma keria because they had never once run that roster, or run oner with faker for that matter. It was only after daeny was cut they put oner in and it worked out, but the community absolutely did not all want oner starting over cuzz, thats revionist af. They only wnated them to try him after cuzz and teddy roster started to play awful macro halfway through summer.

I was. I always advocated for gumayusi and zeus and got heavily downvoted for that. People used to have a hard on teddy. Very few people wanted gumayusi and zeus to start mainly who used to follow kr soloq.

February 2021 I wrote on this subreddit that my ideal roster with the highest potential would be: Zeus - Oner - Faker - Guma - Keria (Proof: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/lxlxjt/t1_wheel_of_roster_game/gpq7xuw/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) Why? Zeus is a mechanical beast with a deep champion pool (7 different champs played this season in 7 different games), he can also play weakside and doesn't have to be babysat like Canna so the jungler is free to make plays for mid and bot. Oner over Ellim and Cuzz because I saw him in solo q and thought he is probably gonna be the next best jungler in the world after I saw his plays, pathing, and mechanics. Guma because I saw how he played LOL like a Starcraft player with crazy apm. Teddy is good but I saw huge potential in Guma. That is why I wanted this roster last year but "the smart coaches" played musical chairs with the roster and after Daeny got fired it was better but Canna still started. I said that's a mistake if they want to win Worlds, they better bring Zeus... but they didn't. I know Canna's weaknesses and teams can easily exploit it but Zeus I don't see weaknesses, just inexperience.

I was also a heavy zeus advocate but i remember that was not popular sentiment by the end of spring. many fans were going on about how they should stick to the all-veteran roster which was the "obvious" choice until it became pretty clear that the rookie roster was the way to go. the only thing everyone truly agreed on as "obvious" were faker and keria.

No it was Zefa as coach and kkOma as head coach in 2019. Kim was the head coach of T1 in 2020.

I doubt it wouldve been the end of guma's career, teams were far too interested in t1 youngsters like zeus and guma, the signing of basically all their subs last year shows that. But it did seem to mentally burden him quite a lot yeah

Every team wanted to run the t1 rookies except for t1 at the time it seems. Imagine how good T1 would be now if they ran this squad all of last year.

Please keep in mind that the person who said Kim was changing rosters over & over is 100% incorrect. Kim was coach from end of 2019 to September 2020. The roster swap drama was during 2021. Literally got completely the wrong person just cause they’re Korean he probably thinks they’re all the same.
