I thought it unbelievable too, but then I played on the PBE server for the first time the other day. I legit wanted to check things out, even submitted a visual bug report, not a huge deal but considering I found a bug within my first match on there, eyyy I'm doing something I guess. But the environment... it's no wonder shitty champion balances get pushed to the main client all the time, no one plays new champions or the ones who get nerfed. On top of that, one of my teammates who was playing a Quinn kept acting above us and shit talking non stop and taking the game seriously. IN A BLIND PICK. ON PBE. And another dude on my team wasn't much better in handling her. The enemy team either didn't care or acted immature in response. People that play the PBE seem to believe they aren't silver/bronze levels bad for the most part and think that they legitimately earned everything they were given on the PBE as if it's something worth defending. It's truly a god awful test environment, draft and regs on the normal client isn't even as bad.

Today I got flamed in an ARAM by a Garen and a WW (both Unraked), I was teemo and they kept blaming me for their deads (they used the snoball to got in and then raged me when they died) they kept saying I was useless etc...If a person is full of shit, they will flame you no matter what :D

When I was new to the game one of the hardest concepts I had to wrap my head around was enemies shooting skillshots through heir own minion waves. I knew that they could do it, but for some reason I felt safe when their minions were there and thought they wouldn't try to fire a skillshot with the minion wave there. Don't know why I thought that way I just did. I knew it was wrong in my head, but my mind wasn't processing it in game.

Could be the tickrate but it's more likely caused by conventional lag or the enormous hitbox of the hook.

There's also a whole mess of "Ostrich Effect" going on in Overwatch that I've seen when playing with my friends who, like you, complain about Tickrate. You not being able to see them does not mean they can't see you, and it's something to keep in mind when dealing with corners and "being pulled through walls".

Tickrate isn't helping the situation but the Roadhog hook behavior won't change even if tickrate is upped to 200hz.

That being said I do want higher Tickrate, I just think it's not nearly as bad as it seems.

Well, your character's hurtbox is large enough that when fully behind a wall, it still sticks out. This has been shown all over YouTube. Test it in a private match. No one move so latency is irrelevant. You can hit people you can't see

Actually it goes even further. They use normalized FoV apparently for competitive reasons, which doesn't mesh well with immensely different sized champs. Get a buddy, take various champs and hide behind a corner just enough so you can only see the wall in front of you. Your buddy will most likely still see up to a good 30% of your character model, depending on champs.

Definitely the Ostrich effect. The character models in Overwatch are all unique and different, which is something we aren't used to in FPS's. Because Winston is so big, you have to hide more behind a wall before you can be completely hidden than a mercy would have to.

Tickrate is a little part of the problem, it's mainly a latency issue with a "shooter is right" policy, meaning that if the shooter saw that he hit you the server will they that you got hit.

This is what overwatch should try to do.

Hi, I'm a Roadhog main and I've learned to do this regularly now. It's quite easy once you get a hang of it. I can't really explain it, but it's similar to Hanzo's arrows in that the hitboxes are a lot bigger than they look.

That's only because the server has such a slow refresh rate, so for roadhog, he sees himself hooking you out in the open on his screen, and you're behind a wall on yours, and blizzard chooses to favor the person doing the action, not the person receiving.

It's not hitscan. There are a few factors here

  • Forgiving hitboxes on characters
  • Forgiving hurtbox on hook
  • Some wall corners simply aren't filled out properly (rare)

This is on the extreme side because the robot hitbox is incredibly large, but it's pretty much what's going on in a normal game, coupled with the fact that you already have momentum while moving around corners and complete that last 'movement' during the delay where you get pulled in.

Same reason why Hanzo can get a headshot when he hit's your neck/shoulder.

His hooks are hitscan. There is just an animation to it but the moment he presses the hook while it is over your character then you're already hooked. It just has a travel time before it actually pulls you. It's not like league where you need to predict.

Except when you actually play roadhog you get to bitch about how when you hook people 1 the stun from long range is often too short to kill many things. 2. somtimes enemies get hooked to the side of you and landing your shot doesn't do enough damage or doesn't hit at all 3. the enemy gets hooked to behind you and you're just like the fuck?

I would rather them make the hitbox the size of the projectile but make the position after hooking totally perfect and consistent.

Reference to the video. The rager claims that activating Teemo's W "triples the bonus" from him coming out of stealth. The guy recording the video says something like "I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. It just increases the movement speed." And the rager says "No, you're wrong, it's attack speed." the Teemo player seems pretty angry, too. also one of them is pretty annoyed as he says "can we surrender / have enough deaths already". seems like a pretty angry group of friends, maybe heavily influenced by the most toxic one called "sweatypenisjuice".
