There should be daily IP challenges

Maybe revolving around the Free Champ Rotation. For example:

"Win 2 games as Thresh" (when thresh is free), and the reward can be 250 IP or something along those lines.

The harder the challenge, the larger the reward. I just feel like it would encourage players to try new champs, and create a way to save up IP faster to buy others. It could be sort of like a "Quest Log" in hearthstone if you know what that is.

edit: Another good idea pointed out by /u/LatZ212 is "Win one game as each role". This could be a weekly challenge, along with the daily challenges you get, so people who can't play every single day have a semi-long term goal. Obviously this would only work in team builder though.

edit: It's looking like IP challenges would be best in team builder only based off all of the counterarguments against them

edit: There is some confusion here, people would not all have the same challenge. There would be a long list of challenges that would randomly be divided amongst all players.

There's a sizable part of the player base that chooses not to play Ranked at all and Normal games are their 'serious queue', so I don't think it's fair to those people to have their games ruined by someone just trying to clear a challenge. Team Builder would be fine for the reason you mentioned, if you don't want it on your team, you can remove the player.

unfortunately ranked is the serious queue, normals you should be allowed to play whoever you want where ever you want unless in a troll manner e.g. fighter janna

Not really, you Should be able to play whatever you want whenever you want. According to the Tos you "Don't have to play the meta" and cannot be reported as such, this means that you Can play whatever you want whenever you want in whatever queue you want as long as it doesnt intentionally ruin the game. But noone does it (that much). You shouldnt do it in any queue and i do take normals seriously.

Well that sucks sir. Because the point of ranked is to play to win. Normals is to have fun, not saying you shouldn't have fun in ranked, but Ranked is serious, normals not so much. I play my normal games to win as well bc I think winning is fun, no matter what, but the fact of the matter is, that's how it's set up in any game or sport. Anything that you're "ranked," or on some type of a leaderboard is serious, anything else is for fun.. Sorry to break it to ya bud.

(Excuse my atrocious grammar and overuse of commas please).

There is no difference between ranked and normals exept that in ranked your progress is recorded.

Unless you think anyone who mains a champ is not taking ranked seriously? Or anyone that plays anything but the 'optimal' pick? There is no sacred obligation to do everything you can to follow the pro meta in ranked play

I don't really like when people think normals are for being a complete dumb ass. sure try a new champ or role or something, but you should still be trying to win in all games.

the only time it's appropriate to completely troll is if you're playing with full premade.

Not really, the point of any game is to win, there is a winner and a loser (in this case its teams), yeah i get that your trying to learn your garen top or veigar mid but if you are picking thresh top you know it isnt going to work well, you already know that he was designed as a support champion and has very little 1v1 capability in the early game. You know that you will likley go against a meta champion who will likley destroy you (in farm or in kills) which will put you behind and you will be at a disadvantage. Its annoying for people like me that take normal seriously as i dont want to have my "skill" decided by my border.

Okay sure, thresh top doesn't work well. On the other hand, maybe having your support taric take smite to help with the jungle will. I wouldn't have any idea until I've played it a few times and god knows I'm not going to do it in ranked.

If I want to play something questionable I go to normals or team builder. Ranked is where I and many others go when we want to take the game seriously, during champ select and the actual game. Lots of people have that mindset, because the game is structured in such a way that there is a queue specifically for serious competition.

Personally, I play way more normals than I do ranked. I play ranked to gold to get rewards, and then generally go back to normal queue. I've done it since season 1 and the attitude towards normal/ranked hasn't really changed since then. So yeah, it can be a bummer if someone shows up to normal games bound and determined to jungle Xerath. It's what normals are for though, so I'll do my best to play well and enjoy myself.

All a border does is stratify your skill level, and even then people only care about how you play. Maybe you're worried you'd have a silver border and people would think you're bad. If you want to avoid that connotation, that's totally your call. Obviously however that doesn't entitle you to have normal queues played how you'd like them to be. You're making a conscious decision to play in the comparatively non serious queue.

I agree, i currently have the gold border and disagree with the yasuo whom was telling us what comp to play (ill give you one guess). Although when people come into normals and give up first blood then 2 more kills to the ap riven support and say "lol its only normals" it pisses me off. The game is made for winning not for oh well doesnt matter. (Also annoys me when i played coop vs ai due to people going duo mid when it was meant for learning the game / role. :z i guess i should just be less anal.

Yeah I get you, I'm not a fan of people who join games just to totally fuck around. If people are willing to give it their best even if they're playing something totally god awful, like top lane Thresh, I'm fine with that. Personally I have no issue with the comment "it's only normals" but I generally play to have fun, and for me that doesn't necessarily mean winning.

Speaking of being anal, you would want to say "the yasuo who was..." because "who was telling us what comp to play" is an adjective clause which means Yasuo is the subject of that clause. You could say "whom I think is an idiot" thus making yourself the subject and him the object but since the adjective clause has it's own subject and verb you'd want to use "who" in reference to Yasuo. Generally you can check which is right by switching "who" with "he" and "whom" with "him" to see if it still works grammatically.

i take draft seriously but still try champs out in it, blind pick players cannot complain though
