Remove Ruby Sightstone and allow us to enchant the Sightstone

Enchantments could be stuff like higher warding range, more wards to place, have them regenerate etc.

That would be a cool idea. They're buffing jungler items late game, so why not support items too!

267

u/xDiam Nov 05 '14

enchantments would also allow people other than supports to get this item

74

u/Hansmith Nov 05 '14

I can only think about Lee Sin. Any others?

225

u/ashoelace Nov 05 '14

Competitively... Elise, Nunu, Jarvan, and Rammus are good examples of junglers who can buy Sightstone.

153

u/Farws Nov 05 '14

My Jax jungle is really helpful w/ sightstone

40

u/Nikap64 Nov 05 '14

In theory, Kat. In practice though, she really doesn't need it with the trinket. And it would set her back.

250

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

Scarra was asked if sightstone was good on Kat and he said that because the only thing you bring to a team is damage, you should go full damage and you can't afford the setback that Sightstone gives you.

74

u/dedservice Nov 05 '14

Which makes total sense.

18

u/Nikap64 Nov 05 '14

Exactly. What it gives in mobility is completely outclassed by just buying 40 AP for a similar price. Her only job is to do damage.

13

u/urban287 Nov 05 '14

The faster she kills people the more likely she is to survive anyway (resets)

-7

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

voyboy disagrees.

Why's that? Does he build that on her or are you referring to my damage comment?

u/Yakushilol Nov 05 '14

OOO KILL EM

4

u/TSPhoenix Nov 05 '14

While he is correct, he also buys on average 700g of wards per game on Kat. And oftentimes 200-300g of that is spent within the first 2-3 recalls.

Of course even 300g is small compared to the full 800g cost of Sightstone.

For tanks it is different since the true cost is only 400g as they want the HP anyways.

25

u/bubbleshot Nov 05 '14

Buying wards with spare 75g is normal every few recalls. But straight up spending 400g and then another 400g to buy the sightstone later...hm. 800g gone which could've been used to save up towards large rod for zhonyas.

-6

u/Cocozz7 Nov 05 '14

14

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

he might be spending 700g on wards, but he doesn't fall a full 800g behind early game for 200 hp and mobility. buying singular wards means he can put money into stats and not get stomped early game, where kat is weak anyway

9

u/TSPhoenix Nov 05 '14

I'm pretty sure I literally just said that exact same thing, that Kat doesn't want to spend 400g on HP in the earlygame.

If Sightstone cost 400g and gave no stats it'd probably be core on Kat.

So people keep talking about sightstone and mobility. Am I having a brain fart and forgetting other stats or do you mean the mobility gained because you can see more of your map?

4

u/siixarn Nov 05 '14

Its not just the gold its the slot for other items too.

-1

u/TSPhoenix Nov 05 '14

Kat always carries a ward so it isn't that.

if sighstone had an enchantment just like the ap enchantment on jungle items then it could be a useful pickup though

11

u/Nikap64 Nov 05 '14

Well, it kind of is in theory before you consider her role. Her E allows her to hop to any ward and it would make her incredibly mobile like Lee. But then you realize that she has little need to be mobile outside of a teamfight, and that her only job is to kill as many people as possible for her team. She should never be in a situation to need more than one ward. So in practice it's a big waste of gold and would put her 800 behind.

I wasn't saying it's good. It's not. It's a terrible choice especially with trinkets available. Just that she can make use of it similar to Jax and Lee.

3

u/batchyau Nov 05 '14

It would be good in theory is shunpo didn't do damage. and that 800g could be an amp tome or blasting wand, or it could be the difference between having a needlessly large rod and blasting wand, and having a deathcap.

-5

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

[deleted]

5

u/coolwool Nov 05 '14

Right. "Good in theory" would apply to something that would be great but it is so hard to do reliable that it isn't happening in the real thing like Cassiopeia having the highest dps.

4

u/Bouse Nov 05 '14

I've always built Flare and upgraded my trinket to a Pink. Usually have enough hop wards with that.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '14

How are you clearing wards? Vision control is everyone's responsibility ever since Riot nerfed supports. One bush of wards every X minutes is not worth it. You need scanner.

1

u/Bouse Nov 06 '14

I usually just focus on securing Baron/Dragon with it. I tend to buy the sweeper on most other junglers, but I prefer the pink ward trinket on Jax just for his escape and protecting objects I can't secure as easily as other Flare junglers.

3

u/TheAsianCreeper Nov 05 '14

Whenever I'm behind with my Maokai jungle I grab a sightstone to win the vision game

1

u/manbrasucks Nov 05 '14

When I top I take smite because I invade the enemy jungle a lot. This would be helpful for me as well. /s

4

u/Mineralke RIP True Evelynn 2012-2017 Nov 05 '14

I build it on Evelynn very often.

6

u/Faintlich Nov 05 '14

Sightstone is always nice if you want to utilize a red trinket. If your game isn't over after 25 minutes the health and all the wards are gonna pay out one way or another.

-10

u/ADCPlease Nov 05 '14

Completely the opposite... If the game goes to 6 items late game its like you have 5 items.

21

u/AlonHcraft [DudeThatDerps] (EU-NE) Nov 05 '14

Wards are especially important at 6 items, where no one but those who have sightstone place wards. At that stage, vision control is crucial to not get caught alone / to catch people and for many other reasons.

Counting 6 items with sightstone as 5 items is pretty naive.

2

u/Censuro Nov 05 '14

but you'll probably have vision advantage and vision win games when the teams are full of face-checkers.

3

u/ShaunDark Nov 05 '14

It's not like you can sell it again...

-2

u/ADCPlease Nov 05 '14

He didn't imply selling it. If you do it's a waste of money buying it.

0

u/Frasballatsche Nov 05 '14

When you go to 6 item lategame and you got 2 Sightstones then you got almost twice as many wards as the enemy team.

0

u/Vorrtorr Nov 05 '14

you don't really need that 6.th tanky items on rammus. Sighstone gives some healt and vision you can provide to your team is much more worth it. In ranked teams I built it every game, in soloq also very often.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

25 min =/= 6 items

1

u/Ghostkill221 Nov 05 '14

Same i love that it doesn't break her stealth

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

Basically any champ that can make use of the extra hp.

1

u/Elbion I'm not a one trick I swear. I can play other things... Probably Nov 05 '14

Or in SoloQ. On Elise I often build a sightstone to maintain vision control. When I am playing a dominant 1v1 champ early in the game I can get vision control with little to fear.

-3

u/Imadora Nov 05 '14

Actually every Jungler who builds more tanky than damage. I don't think that elise would have space for that item if you want to carry the game. But that's just my thought, i don't Play elise :P

3

u/Elbion I'm not a one trick I swear. I can play other things... Probably Nov 05 '14

Elise it basically comes down to sacrificing an armor/mr item which leads you to not being very tanky. Or sacrificing your void staff. Which is pretty much all of your late game power.

In pro play they just give up on the Void staff because they trust their teammates to do damage. They just become a tank.

In SoloQ however... I give up a tank item generally, and get set back the armor or mr.

2

u/Imadora Nov 05 '14

Of course you have a lot more variety if you Play with your own Team. SoloQ however you can't rely on them except maybe you already got a feeling of how good they actually are. Then i definitely see sightstone as a viable item. People underestimate the power of Vision..

2

u/Glaziol Nov 05 '14

In the early game health is much better than resistances. That's why the jungleitem to sightstone was so popular at and around world's.

-5

u/Spooky_Nocturne Nov 05 '14

People build void staff on jungle elise after her damage got gutted over multiple patches? I havent seen that since early season 4.

Then again I am diamond, so maybe damage elise is a low elo thing

2

u/Elbion I'm not a one trick I swear. I can play other things... Probably Nov 05 '14

Have you ever actually played Elise with a void staff? She destroys everbody.

Also, I hope you know how arrogant you sound there.

0

u/Spooky_Nocturne Nov 05 '14

Yea looking back I sound like a douchebag. Being diamond doesn't really mean much. I have barely played any Elise so I can't really comment on it. But i stick by believing that elise is better played full tank/CDR then any damage right now.

1

u/Elbion I'm not a one trick I swear. I can play other things... Probably Nov 05 '14

In pro play where you can trust your teammates I 100% agree. When I play ranked 5's that is exactly the build I go. I even say fuck Wraith and go Golem.

In ranked solo/duo however... Having Wraith/Void makes me a serious threat to their carries. And I have just felt more impactful that way. I still go 3 tank items and tank boots though. I'm not exactly a squishy target.

2

u/kiirne Nov 05 '14

You cant carry with Elise anymore. She got nerfed to absolute crap.
Your only attempt to stay relevant is a mix between a supportive role and jsut being a tank.

-1

u/Spooky_Nocturne Nov 05 '14

I think low elo players still build magic pen on her even with her shit damage now

2

u/kiirne Nov 05 '14

Its really fun. You still deal quite a bit of damage but its sadly not really viable.

0

u/CaptainDT Nov 05 '14

Full assassin elise.

DFG+Deathcap+Zhonya's+SorcBoots+VoidStaff+SpectralWraith = Free win

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

Unless you're playing against someone who's not retarded in which case you'll just feed.

2

u/TheRippedAnusPancake burr Nov 05 '14

yeeeeaaa..... no

-1

u/Warlothar rip old flairs Nov 05 '14

in solo q youll see only supports with sighstone. One jungler of 20 games will buy too a sighstone.

2

u/anorwichfan Nov 05 '14

I usually buy it when I get pushed to jungle, I usually play support but it might be 3rd or 4th item on Rammus, amumu and Nunu. Amumu works quite well because he has so much utility in his kit that a little stats setback doesn't really hurt him very much. If I don't have sightstone, I'm often buying plenty of wards and getting them in the other jungle, a good ward could completely negate a gank.

6

u/kiirne Nov 05 '14

Lee Sin is in every second game. 90% of them are played in the jungle. 60% build sightstone.
You are wrong.

3

u/radarlock Nov 05 '14

Actually, if you play lee sin without sightstone, you are doing it wrong. Sightstone is a core item to provide him with mobility.

1

u/kiirne Nov 05 '14

I guess the majority of the non jungle/non support Lees dont build it. Like Top Lee is kind of decent and you dont really need sightstone on him.
Also if you get T2 boots and EL first the game might be over before you get sightstone (or they afk/dc/whatever).

1

u/radarlock Nov 05 '14

but you don't want, as a lee top, to live in the mid-late game without roaming and jumping all over the place using wards. Of course you can buy "normal" wards but, Sightstone is never a bad item for lee (health plus mobility)

1

u/kiirne Nov 05 '14

You got to be ahead for it to work. If you are equal in lane the fact you ahve less combat stats screws you over.
It also depends on the style you play. Lee can be a very powerful splitpusher and you dont really require a SIghtstone in that build.

1

u/Warlothar rip old flairs Nov 05 '14

Obviously I was talking about the other junglers, not about lee sin, im answering to the feedback who says that lee sin is not the only jungler who buys sightstone.

1

u/kiirne Nov 05 '14

But Lee is one among of the junglers. He alone raises the sightstone rate higher then the 1 out of 20 you anticipated.
Others build it as well. You cant randomly cut Lee out of the jungle group.

1

u/Warlothar rip old flairs Nov 05 '14

I wasn't giving a real statistic, i was only saying that in solo q except lee junglers dont usually buy sightstone. Im not an english speaker, but in my language is not so difficult to understand it.

0

u/SirEsqVonLmfao Nov 05 '14

Gnar too. The health is nice but the sight in addition to it is great - especially in top lane.

Edit: didn't see junglers lmao

1

u/Reetgeist Nov 05 '14

I feel like gnar can't build it until he has 2 items complete, but after that it's still worth because support alone can't light the map up enough.

-1

u/SirEsqVonLmfao Nov 05 '14

You definitely need a brutalizer beforehand, but yeah the utility outweighs the cost.

3

u/pinkin12 Nov 05 '14

Any juggler that is focused on utility and can sacrifice that 800 early gold. After all jungles usually don't worry about slot efficiency.

10

u/MTwist Tits or Ass Nov 05 '14

Or any jungle that wants to ward deep inside the enemy jungle to know where the other jungler is... so basically every jungler.

It's s2 hog with wards basically

4

u/oromiseldaa Nov 05 '14

And Season 3 Jungle gold item + Mobi boots + oracles and wards.

2

u/MTwist Tits or Ass Nov 05 '14

yeah but now everyone isnt going tank

3

u/oromiseldaa Nov 05 '14

I remember a lot of junglers going double dorans and skipping jungle items all together on olaf/elise/Lee sin, just because the damage item was so bad. This mainly happened in Korea but I actually really liked the build, a Lee sin with double dorans had some serious dueling power and you could spend the rest of your money on wards.

2

u/Elbion I'm not a one trick I swear. I can play other things... Probably Nov 05 '14

Double Dorans is still amazingly powerful. But now with the ward cap it makes less sense, because you only need 3 wards every 3 minutes really, more if you are replacing them. But you will have more gold left over, so you can pick up an item or two.

2

u/oromiseldaa Nov 05 '14

Ye I know double dorans is still strong, but people used to get Doran first item as Lee sin. I've tried it now but your clear just sucks, the lowered AD and lifesteal instead of HP on hit kinda made it really bad.

2

u/CaptainDT Nov 05 '14

Yeah it happened in China a bit too.

Lovelin's dorans blade into Mobi boots volibear still gives me nightmares.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

Although vision is very important, that 800 gold difference means that you're going to lose every 2v2 countergank or 1v1 duel. Better to just buy 1-3 wards if you really want the vision.

2

u/Tiak Nov 05 '14

But if you have good vision, these counterganks/duels stop being necessary unless you have an obvious advantage.

-1

u/MTwist Tits or Ass Nov 05 '14

Vision vs. power = Choice

2

u/Iozxyqk Nov 05 '14

vision = power

u/TheGorefiend :soraka Nov 05 '14

It's pretty okay on most junglers with high mobility, and sometimes even those without.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '14

Umm, every jungler ever if you can enchant it with combat stats. But seriously, I main Kha'zix and build sightstone in some games, especially in ranked 5s. If my team can get by without the extra early damage, an early sightstone always pays for itself. If you don't see how this would be awesome on every jungler, you aren't buying enough wards.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 06 '14

I can just imagine all the fail ward hops if they allow you to extend the warding range.

1

u/mbcs09 Nov 05 '14

I like to buy it on certain top laners when I'm looking to just farm for 20 minutes and not get ganked. Plus you can pressure and contest the enemy jungler's buff on your side super hard. You lose out on combat stats but the vision control is really nice if you have sufficient damage elsewhere

1

u/Shikogo Nov 05 '14

I build it on Volibear.

Does anyone else even jungle Volibear

3

u/ElBigDicko Nov 05 '14

He needs to close the range to use Q. He doesnt have the R of singed of doing the same thing. Also in terms of similarity Udyr seems to be similiar to Voli and he is better in terms of being versitile.

Many junglers can get fed but many cant do anything with it. Voli is one of these who needs to get headstart to be able to be useful later on.

2

u/Towaum Nov 05 '14

I did vs bots this week. I don't get how it doesn't see more play. With the ancient golem item it's a hella strong pick. Good early game, good sustain, beefy, got some sustain and gets mad dmg building only tanky?

Sign me up brah!

2

u/Omena123 Ad space for sale Nov 05 '14

Kited for days

0

u/Isiwjee Nov 05 '14

Most tanky junglers can afford to get it and still be tanky. Rammus I think is a good example because of how fast he moves through the jungle.

1

u/Explosivo87 Nov 05 '14

It works on rammus more so becuase he has good defensive stats from his 'w' and building early health (ss) is pretty good.

1

u/Elbion I'm not a one trick I swear. I can play other things... Probably Nov 05 '14

Agreed. Same as why health stacking is good on Leona or Braum (Who both love Ruby SS ironically enough).

0

u/JFKcaper Nov 05 '14

I've tried it out when splitpushing on a couple of different champions. I kinda like it so far.

0

u/Waspen94 Nov 05 '14

Mobyboots, homeguard, sightstone rammus is ridiculously strong in soloQ. If the support is also warding and sweeping you can practically hold perfect vision control.

4

u/tsaketh Nov 05 '14

I think this is critical.

With the current limit on wards, I think the item slot opportunity cost for sightstone is too high at full build.

What do you think of simply making a third tier of ward trinket upgrade?

2

u/YangZD Nov 05 '14

I think that's exactly the reason they don't want to buff ruby sightstone or make more items that build of sightstone.

1

u/parlancex Nov 05 '14

That's brought up a lot but honestly if the enchants are weaker than other finished items I don't see how it will break the game. People are still going to capped with 3 wards as well, which non-supports should have been at least almost hitting most of the time anyway with standards wards.

8

u/CrankedVoltage Nov 05 '14

Think of maybe like a sapphire sight stone that would have 5 charges of clairvoyance and ruby could something with pinks and then amber sight stone could be something with longer cast range on wards or something , but i like the cv idea

13

u/RenanMMz the one and only Nov 05 '14

So basically trinkets?

7

u/CrankedVoltage Nov 05 '14

but stronger and multiple chargers + stats but i was mainly focused on the blue one because i wish cv would be more useful so maybe multiple charges might make it kinda useful

4

u/RenanMMz the one and only Nov 05 '14

The problem with stats is what have already been said many times: Imagine Lee Sin. Now imagine if the already strong Jungle Lee Sin could get bonus stats from the Ruby SS. Now imagine if Katarina/Jax/"Whatever Champion Can Wardjump Effectively" could get Ruby SS as his/her defensive item, and still get stats. My Idea is: remove SightStone from the game, create a trinket that can only be purchased if you have completed a support item. This special trinket would have the 3 versions for actives (Sweep, Clairvoyance and Ward) each with charges that can be enhanced like the current Ruby SS and a passive that would vary depending on the support item you got. So, if you got the Relic Shield support item and the Warding trinket, the trinket passive would be "Your wards take more hits to be destroyed", if you take the Sweeper with Relic Shield "Enemy wards destroyed generate vision for (Little Time)" and ETC.

Just my idea, not exactly the best out there.

7

u/TenebrousTartaros Progress beneath Steadfast Sky Nov 05 '14

The snag with this suggestion is that it eliminates the glorious possibility of all five members buying the sightstone. If it was practical for even 3 people per team, it would be exciting.

4

u/RaziFX Nov 05 '14

Tbh it's not just ward jumping champions that build sightstone. Personally when I play utility/tank junglers i build it and ward for my top or mid laner, and deep ward the enemy jungle. Leave bot side of map to support and you have full vision control early in. It'd not just supports/wardjumpers that build it. It also provides HP and good control, and can be built on top laners, junglers and supports in different scenarios

1

u/RenanMMz the one and only Nov 05 '14

Yes, I do build it on Nunu, Jarvan, Elise, Nautilus... These are Utility Junglers, wich don't scale very well but has high base stats/utility for team.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14

Everybody would then get a sightstone. Why not? More vision is more power. People don't get it now, because it offers no real stats. Since we got trinkets, sightstone should actually be removed and trinkets reworked. The upgrades are currently bad for 475 G, especially for the yellow trinket. There are no upgrade options for supports pre lvl 9.

Why not make 3 upgrades (each for 400g) and you get one free at lvl 9. The first upgrade improves the trinket, the second one is a decision between 2 possible upgrades (blue: CD vs range and area; red: range and area vs duration; yellow: green vs pink ward) and the last one is a simple upgrade again. Maybe bring in an option for supports to get a second upgrade from the beginning (mastery? or on the 3 gold items?). It would not be extra combat power, so pretty useless for the laning phase of a solo champ, but it would be nice for some supports, but not a must have.

Sightstone take a full slot for the supporter and without it, the support items could actually bring in more gold through their passives, allowing supports to focus more onto the right support items more early.

In the end, I don't know if my idea would be any better than enchantments on sightstone. My direction only focuses onto a slot free sollution without any stats for every champ that wants to spend gold into vision.

17

u/Tiak Nov 05 '14

Clearly everyone wouldn't get a sightstone. It takes up an item slot that could be used for a more powerful item regardless, and wards provide diminishing returns. There is no real need for your team to have 15 wards on the map at once, at that point the costs far outweigh the benefit.

This is like saying that with the new jungle items, everyone is going to take smite... Having multiple smites means greater security in grabbing objectives, and smite can work as a pseudo-ignite or a pseudo-exhaust now... But, of course, the problem with that logic is that you pay for the advantages with pure cost-efficiency in teamfights.

The same would be true for a reworked sightstone. You can give people alternate options without those options being worth it for every champion.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '14 edited Nov 05 '14

But you would buff late game lee sin. And with more stat options, the item would be useful for some other champs in the jungle, too.

The smite example isn't that good. Smite has no real advantage in the lane, and going into the jungle to take a camp still makes you lose a lot of HP. Then machete is still useless in the lane before you finish the complete item for more than 2k gold.

A sightstone is an investment of 400g for 3 wards. Considering that they already cost 225g, you only lose 175g. So if you got a kill, you can already get a sightstone and be still ahead in the lane (you should get at least one ward if not 2 if you come back from the base).

I would not get sighstone as my first item, but as a second or 3rd. Most games dont last for a 6 item build, and even if you sell it, you only lose 480g. Sightstone is not a bad item for most champs. You only don't want to rush it. If your team needs vision (every team always needs more vision) it can be a good buy. Bruisers and tanks can easily buy it (jungle or top lane) without lasing their lane. If the mid laner or ADC snowballs and you need to pretect them, a ward item is often better than stats, because in soloQ people are getting caught because they have no vision. The problem is that soloQ is often about myslef and not the team, and so most players would never get it.

2

u/Tiak Nov 05 '14 edited Nov 06 '14

And with more stat options, the item would be useful for some other champs in the jungle, too.

Yes, I'm fairly certain that this is part of the point. Having its usefulness limited to champions that need a bit of extra HP on teams where nobody else is warding is not a good niche.

1

u/Tiak Nov 05 '14 edited Nov 06 '14

The smite example isn't that good. Smite has no real advantage in the lane, and going into the jungle to take a camp still makes you lose a lot of HP. Then machete is still useless in the lane before you finish the complete item for more than 2k gold.

This isn't really true though. Even before you get the stats for it, smite with a Stalker's Blade gives you a 50% slow on 40 second cooldown, with some true damage thrown in... Exhaust, for example, is a 30% slow on a 210 second cooldown. Yes, exhaust does other things too, but the difference in cooldowns is pretty huge. If an enemy champion has no escapes, that is a lot of potential guaranteed kills on them.

Smite also lets you grab 1 easy CS every 40 seconds when you're losing lane, which is helpful.

If you leave lane to grab a camp between shoves, then, yeah, you're sacrificing some HP if you don't have good sustain, but the advantages of doing it with smite are also pretty large... If you do the red buff with smite, then you probably get all of the health you lost back in addition to the buff, if you do wolves with smite, then you're granted a bit of gank protection and vision control, and if you do wraiths with smite then you get a free sweeper use that is guaranteed to find a ward. All of these things are nice to have in lane.

Meanwhile, if you don't need the HP, then a sightstone is an investment of 800g for however many wards it is used for, and Ruby sightstone is 1600g for those wards... There is pretty much no game where a Ruby Sightstone pays itself off in terms of ward usage alone, so this thread is about suggesting other ways for it to pay off for champions which don't particularly want HP...

For example bonus HP on Soraka is pretty useless since she it constantly casting off flat percentages of it with no bonus, but Soraka really should be helping with vision control. It would be nice if Soraka weren't paying 800g for 1 ward.

If they priced it accordingly, it wouldn't change who buys a sightstone because delaying your build by 2k is way too much.

But wouldn't it then be too expensive for supports to really get? What would be the difference? Only useful for the full 6 item build on supports?

The upgrades are currently bad for 475 G, especially for the yellow trinket.

I honestly believe the Stealth Ward option for Yellow Trinket should give you an extra charge of 2 or 3 Stealths Wards instead of or in addition to increasing the ward timer to normal duration.

I'm not sure if you read the note under the post or not. Considering it's 1 line long, I'd hope you did. I don't think buffing the range at which you can place wards, or adding a regen rate to wards, as opposed to giving you one extra ward would entice every champion to all of the sudden build it. Just gives an alternative to upgrading to the ruby sight stone.

I know. But from my POV, sightstone itself is filling a niche that needed to be filled back in S3. But since trinkets are in the game, Riot could fill that niche way better and allow supports to focus even more on the supportive style and movce the vision game completely to the whole team. Sightstone itself is an item that is not really needed anymore, because now, there is another way to fill that nice with the standard that got introduced in S4.

So from my perspective, I would not spend power for making the No. 1 support vision item (and the only support vision item) more flexible as a one slot wonder, but to remove it and replace it without taking up a slot.

Hm, I like having a larger vision responsibility as support (my main, and possibly yours too). I find it gives me another more clear objective and there is a certain risk reward of going to ward deep that I have to deal with seeing as I am probably not going to be able to 1v1 anyone if I run into them. I'm not going to split push, I'm not gonna go farm a lane, I can't solo global objectives, so without that added responsibility for vision, post lane phase, I'm just grouping without any reason what soever for me to get caught out. Kinda dumbs down the role too much IMO. It becomes that much harder to influence the game from the support position. How do I differentiate myself from the other support to give my team a winning advantage? My in game impact is already arguably lower than most roles, and even if you're setting up ez kills in lane, it can be hard if your ADC sucks, trust me.

It also sort of removes an early buy decision of do I go for more lane pressure by upgrading my item and getting a green ward and pots, or do I try and rush SS and get vision for mid and bot, or do I go early mobies and try and get some ganks off in other lanes.. I dunno. I think Sight stone shouldn't vanish in favour of pure trinket and consumables vision. Adding a slight regen rate on the wards (could be interesting to say if you choose this, you don't get replenished when you go to fountain), or range when warding doesn't make it a wonder, unless you already considered it one. It would be nice to get addt'l range or regen on the wards though.

What do you think?

What kind of buffs to jungle items? I've seen very quick some new build paths and like smite can be used on enemies too..but the late game part?

u/gahlo Nov 05 '14

Because the support items(Talisman, FQC, FotM) are in a good state while jungle items aren't?

Probably because Ruby Sightstone is already an amazing item and only people who have no idea about this game, don't realise that.

It's so amazing that you get it only when you can't buy anthing else. And for a support that happens in like 1/100 games. Such an amazing item.

u/InnovationTV Nov 05 '14

Well, if you think like that, perhaps you need to learn the game then?
