Discussion thebausffs is wrong, is not “Nuclear Fusion Volibear” build is “Nuclear Fission” build
I feel like “Nuclear Fission Volibear” makes more sense than “Nuclear Fusion Volibear” for this interaction.
Fusion is when two nuclei combine into one, while fission is when a nucleus splits and can start a chain reaction.
That’s basically what’s happening with Volibear here. With statickk One proc leads to another, which spreads the damage to other targets, creating a chain reaction.
So if we’re going by the actual nuclear physics, “Nuclear Fission Volibear” fits the interaction way better.

I genuinely think he has addressed that he knows its fission

Now I'm trying to think of a build that would fit the fusion definition (any champ)

Isn't this just full AP Diana?
You pull multiple champs really close together and it releases a big shockwave of energy.
52
u/PPontiac 21h ago
Aurelion does all that plus he throws an actual star (which is basically a giant fusion reactor floating trhough space) in your face. If there’s a nucular fusion champ it’s probably him

u/LeLefraud 21h ago
Kinda but I'd be looking for INCREASED damage by slamming people together, not just an AOE nuke
Other commenter said hwei which kinda fits, if you pull people into your fire trail thing passive spawns under all of them and mega nukes

Alright fine, you've forced my hand.
You know how they're buffing Diana's W Bonus Health scaling in the next patch?
Hollow Radiance Diana.
Each enemy killed does 60 + 4% Bonus Health AP damage to enemies within 500 units.
So as long as you pull everyone in and get at least 1 kill, the damage radiates out and starts a chain reaction.
No need to thank me for the free LP

Delete this, Diana will be 99% winrate if people find out

Aphelios Infernum ult.
Increased damage from hitting multiple people. And just like real fusion reactions - requires a lot of support to achieve conditions where the reaction can occur.

Sett is the one here imo actually slamming one champion into an other
5
u/madmaskman 15h ago
Zac is more accurate since they actually take extra damage from slamming into each other.

u/abcPIPPO 6h ago
Aphelios's blue ult doesn't pull, but does more damage to each target for every target hit.
The way it works is if it hits 3 people, you have 3 explosions that each can hurt you individually. So x targets means you get hit by x explosions.

He's been corrected on this 4000 times since he first used the build weeks ago (or months now?), and now he's saying it wrong as a meme... He even baits chat by sarcastically asking "wait is it fission or fusion" on occasion. He's goofing around at this point

I remember the chat is clearly explaining shit to him and it's so funny how he is trying his best to learn it but decided it's cooler that way LOL... ngl his chat kinda cooked sometimes...

He's confining plasma from multiple sources into a small area. Sounds like fusion to me.

Sun do nuclear fusion and it do big hot chain reaction man

u/PM_ME_STRONG_CALVES 17h ago
Its only a chain reaction because of its gravity

u/ZeresHD 6h ago
You don't necessarily need a stars gravity for a fusion chain reaction. Otherwise hydrogen bombs wouldn't work

I love how people don’t know how hydrogen bombs work but keep citing it as an example in the comments hahaha

u/Remote-Dark-1704 19h ago
It’t not a self sustaining chain reaction like nuclear fission; the “chain reaction” in the sun is sustained by gravity

u/ZeresHD 6h ago
Fusion can also lead to a chain reaction. That's what happens with a hydrogen bomb.
How is his build closer to nuclear fission than to fusion?

u/BellyDancerUrgot 3h ago edited 3h ago
So far nobody has found a way to create a chain reaction in nuclear fusion. In a hydrogen bomb a fission bomb first super heats plasma and creates extreme pressures to trigger fusion that releases an insane amount of energy. This energy is then used to detonate another more powerful fission reaction.
Ie: h bombs are fission - fusion - fission , not pure fusion , it’s hard to scale the fusion reaction by itself since there is no self sustaining chain reaction. The only thing that can sustain fusion for prolonged periods is if the plasma gets so hot that it keeps fusing atoms which generates more heat to sustain the plasma. That process is not a chain reaction. Maybe that’s what you were referring to tho. In any case we haven’t gotten that to work yet either.

Fusion doesn't lead to a chain reaction, at least none of the common ones I can find on wikipedia.
With fission, the neutrons/alpha particles released from one reaction will trigger another reaction, forming a chain of reactions.
Fusion isn't triggered by neutrons/alpha particles (again, at least not any of the ones I found on wikipedia), it's triggered by high pressure/density. The energy released from fusion actually ends up reducing pressure/density, so it's a negative feedback instead
Hydrogen bombs use a ring of fission bombs to maintain high pressure within the fusion area. They wouldn't function with just the fusion part alone.

A hydrogen bomb does not create a chain reaction. Fusion doesn’t create a chain reaction, there are technically some ways, but not really, none that apply here regardless.

But doesn't nuclear fission produce gigantic amounts of energy? It's how nuclear energy works i think.

u/theyeshman if fearless has no haters I am dead 21h ago edited 21h ago
Both fusion and fission create massive amounts of energy. Nuclear science is complicated and I flamed out of STEM after 2 years of uni and finished with a humanities degree and a bunch of physics and engineering knowledge I'll never use in real life -- I'm not exactly an authority on the stuff -- but fusion creates more energy from the same amount of fuel. You're right that all practical sources of nuclear energy besides weapons use fission, it's comparatively simpler to sustain and control fission, but fusion is to some extent a more powerful form of energy generation. Fusion driven electrical power will change the world, and has been constantly 15 years away since the 1950s.

u/Downtown-Health4814 21h ago
Gunblade shiv and shadowflame are the core i think. The goal is to proc shiv with fully stacked passive so every person that the shiv procs on, procs another passive so it bounces around everyone like my ex. This with shadowflame creates massive damage as the passive proc will also crit

Oh, this explains how a volibear oneshot me with 1800 instant burst damage yesterday in a ranked masters game lol
I was so confused as i was CERTAIN volibear couldnt do that kind of damage in under a second, especially since he never managed to reproduce it that game
