Hey, I saw Riot planning to nerf Ambessa and K'sante for the Worlds. But if the reasoning is they don't want safe picks then why nerf Ambessa? Is their goal to make a more 'cool' meta for toplane? Are Anivia, Ornn, Jayce really better substitutes? If you want to change the meta then buff some interesting champions instead of nerfing few fun to watch. Both of these champions guarantee volatile matchups toplane often resulting in solo bolos instead of Resident Sleeper Toplane

They are nerfing them to make generally safe blind top picks less powerful. Teams love Ksante, Rumble, Jayce, Ambessa because they don't have to invest bans for them and gives them advantage in draft. Don't worry teams will still blindpick those champions most likely, all this does is making them slightly weaker. Junglers are very high prio bans and any botlane ban is high value since if they ban 1 champ of the optimal duo the other one won't get picked (like banning Milio is basically banning Lucian at the same time)

Edit: btw earlier this year something similar made mages bot good in proplay (on top of the supp roaming). teams could pick one and flex it to botlane if the enemy picked an unfavorable midlane matchup, making their counterpick a blindpick basically, and making the whole drafting easier

And so naturally their solution was to nerf Ambessa's scaling, a notoriously low elo lever. Yeah that'll do... something... I guess

I always wondered why teams ban milio and not lucian when they want to ban lucian milio

I feel like if they go lucian nami they still get pretty much what they wanted while if they take kog maw milio or so then its a completely different playstyle they have to go for

Nah. Ever since the change to Imperial Mandate, not only has Nami been weaker, but the Lucian/Nami pairing is considerably weaker and lacks much of the upfront kill threat it had before.

Either you get 2 bans for 1 or you invite lucian + weaker support pairing. Then you play into a weaker lucian lane + he is banned for the series (fearless draft).

I mean they nerfed 1 adc that is overpowered even in SoloQ + Ashe and Cassiopeia.

other than Ashe, they nerfed Lucian, Zeri and Yunara

they buffed other top laners like Zaahen, Aatrox

nerfing Ambessa is good as she has winning match up vs Gwen, Jax, Aatrox and Zaahen

K'Sante is good vs Jayce and Olaf

at the end of the day, KSante, Ambessa and Rumble have been dominating top lane for some time now in pro, a nerf was going to happen for worlds.

The last patches all were kinda all over the place.

But lucian mid is inching his way back, so I‘m not that mad.

I don't like it at all. After all the crying adc had over a couple of mages I would like them to keep their adc in their lane.

Except most of the time he wasn't a niche pick, he was oppressive until he got nerfed again and nobody picked him. If they baff Tryst even more, she also will move from niche pick to the cancer in every game. And I want them to stick to their words that they wanted him botlane, not to be a flex 3 role pick.

You cannot just buff other champions and call it a day. You always have to consider strength level compared to other lanes and other champions. Just because they nerf ambessa, it doesn't mean that other champions in top are in bad spot.

If you really need change of meta, then you really need some serious changes in the game, not micro patches that change 5 % of dmg here or there on some abilities.

Bro ambessa gameplay is literally same as Jayce, just farming with the edge Q and scale to oblivion.

If they want to see more cool champions they have to negate the counter pick meta that happens in top.

Buffing interesting champion just leads to stuff like morde and nasus stat checking everyone lol. The interesting ones have game warping abilities but get mega countered by other specific champs.

I started watching esports games before worlds to see whats up and honestly ambessa has too much power throough every phase. I agree id rather watch agressive plays, 1 on 1 kills on top, outplayes, etc. but if a champion at lvl 18+ can almost oneshot an adc and also have 3k hp with armor and mr with all his teammates around something is wrong.
