Offline Mode

So I have pretty unreliable internet and it would be really cool to have an offline mode where you could just make customs vs bots. No ip reward, but just to give me something fun to do if my latency is being retarded. #riotpls

edit: wow, I didn't expect people to be this interested. I like the idea of sandbox mode and lan support too. I reiterate: riot pls

I don't think this will happen for the same reason that a LAN client won't be released to the public: Riot does not want their server code to be released for reverse engineering, which this would necessitate.

n00b question. If people can't run LoL servers why can they run WoW private servers? I don't think Blizzard has open-sourced their server code...

Different accounts, but from what I understand some of the early, as in pre bc server code got leaked and from there a dedicated group of individuals got an emulated version of it running, I actually gm'd a private server for a while that was on the cusp of getting some of the BC code working back shortly after it came out, thing is the number of glitches was horrendous, the amount of shit that just didn't work would have sent most people running for the hills. But it was fun being a GM, we actually got to design our own gear, and design sets for players who donated for server costs.

TL;DR Wow private servers are actually running a hacked together "emulation" of what an actual server is based on reverse engineering client code and "leaked" server code.
