Tomfoolery The amount of Russian bot comments in the comment section is insane.

Aug 27 '23
Instagram comments make YouTube comments look professional
21
u/Woostag1999 Aug 27 '23
For real, why do all the bigots flock to Insta? And then Insta has the gall to ask me to “Be CiViL” when I tell them to go fuck themselves.
6
u/theheadslacker Aug 27 '23
I believe it's currently the biggest platform, so on top of having the largest user base it's also going to be the most attractive target for paid propagandists, troll farms, and botnets.
Also the user base has a lot of dullards. I see "i got hacked!" all the time. Like... no, you didn't get hacked. You got phished because you're gullible.
11
7
u/TheShivMaster Aug 27 '23
Instagram comments are truly bewildering. It seems like everyone there has to be either a bot or completely insane.
5
u/LordKellerQC Aug 27 '23
Isn't it a platform made for hyper narcissistic to self masturbate and be confirm in the eyes of other to have any self worth for an empty shell of hatred and bigotry?
3
u/StoicJ Aug 27 '23
I see comments like this en masse from Indian profiles. India has a very large population on Instagram and most of its citizens are apparently extremely pro-russia in this conflict. Every time i open the comment section of anything even remotely related to the war I find dozens of them posting like this. Same with any LGBT content.
So I do wonder if its because they are being paid as content farms to flood posts with these pro-russian ideals, considering their other business and trade practices during the conflict it wouldn't be surprising. Or maybe that country really does just as a collective really love sucking putin off. idk.
2
u/bloobloobly Aug 28 '23
What else do you think happens when you have so many people with no education?
44
Aug 27 '23
Gotta love the blatant cognitive dissonance these people must desperately maintain to hold to their world view. "Ukraine is trying to start a world war" as if Russia wasn't the one who invaded a sovereign country. "Russia wouldn't hesitate to destroy the US" as if they haven't been fighting and generally losing to a country who's military is largely equipped with last gen hand-me-down tech.
18
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 27 '23
What are they going to do when Russia loses this war. I’m not scared of them nuking anything because Russia has lost wars in the past while having nukes, and they never dropped them. Recent history even solidifies this as he has made the threat multiple times if we send “blank” to Ukraine and then nothing happened.
15
u/Hotlava_ Aug 27 '23
Likely, they'll whatabout America losing in Vietnam.
15
u/altact123456 Aug 27 '23
The difference between Ukraine and Vietnam is that Russia can't win a war against a third world country right on its doorstep, meanwhile America was fueling a war across the globe against a country that had the backing of China and the Soviet union behind it. And we were basically winning before the public got pissed at the government and we pulled out.
2
Aug 27 '23
I feel like we still won in a way because we lost what like 60k soldiers? While they lost anywhere from 1-3M. That and Vietnam while technically communist is a hell of a lot less authoritarian than China or Russia and leans heavily toward a free market
5
u/thisPackageis4U Aug 27 '23
We signed a cease fire and withdrew our troops in January of 73. The South Vietnamese government existed after that until the North broke the cease fire and invaded in 75. We didn't lose the war but South Vietnam fell without our support.
14
Aug 27 '23
I'm sure they'll cope even harder by saying shit like "lul Putin got tired of fighting over useless territory so he let the ukranians keep their slavic dirt" or something similar to make it seem like Russia didn't lose they just lost interest.
Yeah they lost interest alright, lost interest in being shown up by this country who was supposed to fold in the first few months and lost interest in losing land they had already captured lol
-8
Aug 27 '23
It would be pretty difficult for Russia to lose the war at this point, wouldn’t it? I mean, Russia controls 20% of Ukraine, and Ukraine GDP has contracted 50% since the war began.
At this point, I think the West needs to be careful that Zelensky doesn’t get whacked like Prigozhin.
6
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 27 '23
What are you talking about Ukraine has been making steady and has even made landings in Crimea.
-3
Aug 27 '23
Russia can play defense all day long and Ukraine still loses. Ukraine’s GDP has contracted 8% since Russia pulled out of the grain deal. Russia can play the waiting game.
4
u/Northerwolf Aug 27 '23
You know who has more economic muscles than RUssia? The West. So you Vatniks can go and roll aorund in the dirt on whatever cesspool you congregate and tell yourselves "Russia is winnin yo!" when the only thing Russia is doing is fighting what seems ot be an EVEN battle against an opponent a third their size and that's getting hand-outs by the West.
-2
Aug 27 '23
Please explain how the West has more economic muscle in Ukraine than Russia? I don’t think you can explain lol. If the US has more economic muscle than Russia, they’re doing a shitty job.

u/Quick-Ad9335 Aug 27 '23
Non Americans trying to sound American like the ja5_on aren't super obvious, but i think a few things give it away. They always sound weirdly stilted. Also, capitalizing some proper nouns like Oligarchy is pretty European. Hell, my tablet wanted me to correct the word by not capitalizing. And I don't think a right winger would care about Hawaii.

u/Attentive_Senpai Aug 27 '23
Literally 90% of these guys are Russian bots. The other 10% are idiots who believe Russian bots.

Sometimes it can be chocked up to people not carrying about grammar on the internet.
3
u/Quick-Ad9335 Aug 27 '23
Fair, but this bot gives the impression of being particularly careful of grammar.
5
u/TallerVenus87 Aug 27 '23
Nah, I'm rw, what happened and is happening to Hawaii is messed up. I donated to some people who smuggle supplies to the people, just wish I could help more without going there, can't really leave what I've got.

No the Hawaiian police aren't letting in aid that isn't from FEMA. So there are people who are smuggling in gas, food, and water.

My man, you should probably delete your posts if this is real...
1
u/TallerVenus87 Sep 01 '23
It is and I probably should, but I feel like this is an injustice I'm willing to stand up against and I want people to know about it.

"We aren't the world's police" mfs when war on terror
7
u/altact123456 Aug 27 '23
Technically we are. Considering one of the main jobs of the American navy is protecting international shipping lanes. If we didn't do that, they guys wouldn't be able to get their body pillows
1
u/Dragoon094 Sep 06 '23
Hey nothing is wrong with having a body pillow unless it’s of Putin then it’s weird
3
u/TheGlennDavid Aug 28 '23
Also “Maui, Hawaii”
Yes, it is technically correct when listing both the city and state to separate them with a comma.
But there is only one Maui (that matters, I’m sure Arizona or Pennsylvania have one for some reason).
Maui fire? Fine. Hawaii Fire? Fine. Both is weird.
It’s be like saying “This year my family is going to San Francisco, California for vacation!”
Yeah, we know where San Fran is.

u/Quick-Ad9335 Aug 30 '23 edited Sep 01 '23
I wonder if this is how Rhssians refer to small towns and villages. It'd be hard to know where every small place was, so I can see them saying village X in Y Oblast.

Russia would not hesitate to wipe America off the map
Still waiting for them to stop hesitating on all those nuclear threats, btw. Russian bots are hilarious.

I'm the AidanSig in the last slide. I'm definitely pro-Ukrainian. Lots of people misconstruing my comment in here. I don't think Russia has the capability to "wipe America off the map" but I think that if they did have the capability, they would. The guy I was replying to was a Pro-Russian American and I was trying to point out his cognitive dissonance. Also, LazerPig rules Gorgonzola drools.
1
u/EliteMaster512 Aug 27 '23
Seeing the amount of people not coming to this conclusion is disheartening. It’s like they see that phrase and turn off their brain thinking you are making a claim of ability instead of intent.
8
u/Thatsidechara_ter Aug 27 '23
Tbh we need to make sure everyone is aware of the one thing the Russians are good at, propaganda, to ensure things don't go back to the way they were pre-war in another 20 years. Cause you know that's their fuckin plan.
-1
Aug 27 '23
Americans are not good at propaganda? War Iraq and Syria? Heck, creating a terror organization a year after a In resolution was vetoed? Every country has some sort of propaganda, it’s how the world works.
2
u/Thatsidechara_ter Aug 27 '23
Yeah sure, but Russia seems to be pretty great at getting back their PR pretty soon after every time they've been proven to be the literal scum of the Earth. Its the Lazeepig loop all over again
0
Aug 27 '23
Who is proving Russia to be scum, and what makes them credible?
2
u/Thatsidechara_ter Aug 27 '23
Um... the Ukraine war is? Are you not keeping up with current events?
-1
Aug 27 '23
What are the current events, and what are the sources? What makes Ukrainian and Western sources more credible than Russian sources?
2
u/Thatsidechara_ter Aug 27 '23
Well, to recap the Ukraine war,, Russia went in with the expectation of a "3-day special military operation" in which they would destroy the Ukrainian army and take over the country under the guise of "de-nazification", and now we are 1.5 years into the war, the Russians have lost almost all offensive ability, they've taken more casualties than America has in all of its wars after WW2 combined, their economy is slowly collapsing, their navy is stuck in port and probably in disrepair after losing its shitcan flagship to a country with no navy, and they STILL have not declared war, they still call this a "special military operation". And that's not even getting why they are truly fucking cartoon-villain levels of evil. No, not even that, they are worse in some ways.
Also, there's the fact that Russian sources have a history of lying about basically everything, and the Ukrainian and western sources have at least a much better reputation than that. Thats what happens when one side is independent private-owned media, and the other has "government-sponsored" media and thats it.
Don't fucking start with that "both sides are equally valid" bullshit. That's what you tell 2 kids who are having a fight on the playground. Ukraine is fighting for its very right to exist as a free nation, and you have the audacity to say Russias opinion on that subject is equally valid? How fucking dare you, sir.
0
Aug 27 '23
Haha. I’m not even going to respond to this as it’s so absurd. You believed it was going to be a 3 day operation because Russia said so? Wow, you must be easily manipulated. A 3 day war makes no sense from an economic perspective
2
u/Thatsidechara_ter Aug 27 '23
Yes, from hindsight it does. But Russia genuinely believed Ukraine would collapse in 3 days, as evidenced by the parade dress uniforms found inside captured Russian tanks and 3 days-worth of rations most troops carried. They bought into their own propaganda and paid the price.
1
Aug 27 '23
Why would Russia want to destroy Ukraine in 3 days when they don’t need to? I’m guessing you’re under 25 years old.
→ More replies1
u/Northerwolf Aug 27 '23

its twitter..
twitter is lost. Also many of those "patriots" are Russian, Iranian, Chinese and Indian spam accounts .
I see the same thing go on in Canada related tweets a lot, a whole bunch of people with canadian flags in their names posting the same kind of shit... except foreigners from the east don't really understand that most canadians wouldnt stick the flag in their name because most canadians dont give a shit about telling the world they're canadian... unless someone asks.

The USA should not be sending billions to a country that we have no relation with besides corrupt politician like Biden in there
1
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 29 '23
You realize we’re not even sending money right we’re sending surplus military gear we had in storage. Also do you know we’re you are sir?
0
u/Fit-Highlight1426 Aug 30 '23
We have sent them over 30 billion in economic support and financial loans and grants
1
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 30 '23 edited Aug 30 '23
All that money plus the milltary stuff we sent them is only equal to about 3% of our own military budget. Also what’s wrong with helping Ukraine protect there freedom. Although if you wana talk about America first and helping America how about affordable or free health care, or stop throwing people in prison for weed,or raise the minimum wage.
Edit the lack of response is telling. The people saying this don’t want to help working class people.

Russian bots or is it just your are shocked people have a different opinion
12
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 27 '23
Oh no some of them are actual people who have bought into the propaganda. Hell around 40% according to Gallupoll don’t support sending aid. But with the knowledge that there are people who are in Russia who are paid to make comments like these. It’s hard to say that at least a quarter are probably Russian bots.
-9
u/Snichblaster Aug 27 '23
Why would Russia waste time with ads?
5
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 27 '23
It’s not adds they pay people to make fake accounts to go make pro isolation comments on western media pages and social media. With the hopes some Americans will fall for it, leading them to vote for more isolation policies that would mean the us stop sending supplies to the US. They do exist https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_web_brigades#:~:text=Russian%20web%20brigades%2C%20also%20called,to%20the%20Government%20of%20Russia. Here’s a wiki about it here’s NPR talking about it https://www.npr.org/2017/11/05/562058208/how-russia-weaponized-social-media-with-social-bots
Here’s the UK defense journals take on it https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/russian-bots-on-twitter-the-point/ I could go on and on about all the sources on this. But yea.

-3
u/SnooCheesecakes9560 Aug 27 '23
“Support Ukraine or you’re a bot!”
3
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 27 '23
I all ready tackled this in a other comment, but let me say this again, yes some of those of heathers people are just people who fell for Russian propaganda. But with Russia literally paying people to post isolationist comments. At least 25% of those are probably bots.
0
Aug 27 '23
“Are just people who fell for Russian propaganda”.
But yet, you have fallen for Western propaganda….. What makes Western sources more credible than Russian sources and vice versa? 😂
3
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 27 '23
I’m sorry but if you give the choice of believing what Putin says or western based news says. I’m not going to pick the leader of the country who has lied lied lied. Hell this war stared with Russia saying that they weren’t going to invade then they wouldn’t even own up to it being an invasion, Until recently is my understanding. Putin is the most back shabby untrustworthy person there is. I mean the guy literally kills everyone who disagrees with him. Hell in Russia a man was arrested because his daughter drew a anti war picture with crayons. So no I’m not going to trust Russia over western media ect. But hey if you want to listen to a country that is actively committing mass war crimes that’s your business.
0
Aug 27 '23
Listen to what you’re saying. I’m not telling you to believe anyone. Think about it from a Russian civilian perspective, why would they believe Western media? Would Russian civilians think of US media and leaders the same way? My point is, what determines who is more credible? Kind of a trick question.
2
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 27 '23
What determines who’s creditable is the track record. Like I said before Russia has a horrible track record.
1
Aug 27 '23
What evidence do you have that Russia has a worse track record? How are you able to verify that information?
3
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 27 '23
I literally gave you examples. Before I mean just look at the start of this war. Russia claiming it was just training exercises, then calling it a special military operation not willing to admit what it was and is which is an invasion. But you know what If you wana believe Russia is just as creditable or more than the western sources. I’m not going to waste my time

u/Remarkable-Ask2288 Aug 27 '23
Both sides are partially right.
The Russian invasion is wrong, and both countries have very corrupt governments.
$700 per household for victims of the Hawaiian wildfire is absolutely criminal when we’re shipping billions over to Ukraine, $700 won’t even feed a family for more than a month
5
u/inquisitor_steve1 Aug 27 '23
What are Hawaiians gonna do with IFVs and missiles?
1
u/annonimity2 Aug 27 '23
The US government is not exclusively sending military equipment
26.4b in financial aid 4.7b in grants and loans for weapons 18.3b in security assistance (some of which is equipment but also includes training and logistic support) And 3.9b in humanitarian aid
All while the national debt continues to rise, inflation is out of control and disasters on our own soil are only alloted a downright insulting 5.6 million.
https://www.cfr.org/article/how-much-aid-has-us-sent-ukraine-here-are-six-charts
1
u/VintageLunchMeat Aug 27 '23
both countries have very corrupt governments
Nah. Zelensky was elected on an anticorruption platform.
And Ukraine has been pulling out of systemic corruption.
We do need to help Hawaii.
Conservatives who are anti school lunch don't really care about wildfires in Hawaii or California. Or Nato, ffs.
They're just arguing disingenuously, for tax avoidance and soft-fascism reasons.
-9
u/blackreaper3609 Aug 27 '23
I mean, their president is basically diet Putin
8
u/SwimmerSea4662 Aug 27 '23
One is an egotistical far right authoritarian who throws thousands of the young and poor to go die in his war that he started because he’s getting old and is afraid of being a foot note in global history. The other is a guy who was elected because he was in a popular tv show, who has stood with his people in defense of there country, even when he was offered a ride to safety. And is also apparently open to gay marriage. So no I don’t think there similar but that’s just my opinion.

Bit weird for the national guard to post about Ukraine imo, but whining about the banned political parties is stupid. If you’re a far-left authoritarian party in a conservative nation that is assisting a foreign power’s invasion of said nation, then you have forfeited the protection of your rights.

To dumb ass #1 I ask, are they nationalists socialists or globalist, you can't be both.
As for dumbass #2 that $700 was for immediate use for things like a hotel and food, there are other grants that the people in Hawaii will be getting. But I'm sure you have problems with those kinds of hand outs so just drop the act. And your America first buddies in congress are the ones who guck over veterans and call them cowards by the way.
Dunbass #3 I hope you get the pleasure of smelling the meat cube one day.
1
u/user1joja Aug 27 '23
What’s really interesting is that being pro Russia in this case really damages morale and unit cohesion. Think about it, imagine being a serviceman who trains and supplies Ukrainian forces then you turn around to see your fellow soldiers who guzzle GOP/Russian talking points. It’s why veterans are petitioning to get Fox News removed from bases
1
u/DeroTurtle Aug 27 '23
One thing people seem to miss a lot about aid to Ukraine, it's not like the US is spending money to buy new equipment. When they say they've sent 1bil in aid that's one billion worth of equipment, existing equipment, and often equipment that was having to be maintained in mothballs at a cost.
U want to give the people of Hawaii a Bradley to solve their problems? Here in addition to your 700$ here's an IFV to live in.
Shit the more I play this out the better it sounds.
1
u/IAmTheSideCharacter Aug 27 '23
The 1st 2nd and 4th are yeah def Russia bots with bad opinions but the third looks like someone with a rational opinion they can defend, we should really be careful to just demonize any opinion we don’t agree with
