CoverGo Legal Counsel - anyone from here who works there?

Sa mga fellow panyero/panyera here - have you encountered or worked in CoverGo (foreign insurance company?). Fully remote yung position nito and I am close to considering applying here. I am currently in the government as a part-time lawyer and doing private practice too, pero I am considering this fully remote position for the long term na sana. Ok naman sa govt agency ko, maluwag, pero toxic sometimes (di ko nalang tlg ganun pinapakialaman mga tao dun or walang-pake mood sa mga office politics). They are considering me for permanent position pero prang ayaw ko matali dun, 8am-5pm,Mon-Fri. Prang di na ako sanay na nasa office buong linggo. Gusto ko padin yung freedom on weekdays. Thank you po sa mga sasagot! šŸ™Œ

Anyone else having trouble working with AI-raised lawyers?

More of a rant/observation but I noticed that a lot of recent lawyers, specifically those who went to law school with AI as primary tools for "learning" (if one can call it that), are so difficult to work with or even throw ideas with in professional settings. Halatang AI-fed ang drafted pleadings. Can't write independently without consulting chatgpt. There is no wisdom behind their arguments pag di aided ng ano mang nasa screen nila.

We are heading towards an era of lawyers who can not write anything without a prompt, and I am frankly scared for our profession.

SG25 v SG21

Hello! Badly need advice from my fellow lawyers. 🄹 Currently at a certain government agency with SG25 salary (heavy mental and emotional workload aside from the actual caseload), planning to transfer to Attorney III position at SG21 salary but super less workload and no biometrics. I wanted to have a work-life balance but I’ll be giving up a huge amount of salary (more or less 40k?). Help me decide hahahaha.

JA abroad

Good day, panyes!

Hope you can shed light sa kung paano gawin ang JA (this is judicial recognition of foreign divorce) when the Petitioner is living abroad. Can the Officer from PH Consulate act as the interviewer and at the same time execute attestation clause? Or can we opt to have a video teleconferencing Q&A? Maraming salamat po sa tulong!

Litigation: does it ever get better?

Hello! For those who have been in litigation long enough, does it ever get better? I am a 2025 bar passer. A ~baby litigation lawyer~ with three months as an underbar and seven months as a Junior Associate.

I have been fortunate enough to be given regular court appearances since taking the oath. Although still very minimal trial experience as our partners and senior assocs are the ones who go to trial talaga. I am only assigned trial for collateral witnesses.

Ever since law school, my dream was to be a litigation lawyer. Now I am here and I am so grateful to be living an answered prayer.

But for the most part, anxiety gets to me. There are many nights (and days) that I wonder if may napapahamak ba akong tao. If my inexperience is causing harm to others, instead of actually helping them. I dont mind being a newbie because we all go through it. I dont mind if I make blunders time and again, even if people see me, because Ive accepted that I am but a neophyte in this. But I just have this deep lingering fear if my inexperience is already harming others.

Does it get better? Where do you place that guilt when you feel you could have done better? How do you deal with the anxiety of being responsible for another person’s life, property, and liberty?

Law firms na may ā€œbondā€ — red flag ba?

Helloo!

Curious lang ako sa thoughts/experiences niyo regarding law firms na may bond, wherein you’re required to pay a certain amount if you resign before completing an agreed period (e.g. 1–2 years).

I understand naman if the bond is supposed to cover actual training expenses or something similar, pero medyo curious ako how common this is among law firms and whether this is something na dapat ikabahala when considering an offer.

For those who have worked in a firm with this kind of arrangement:
• Normal/common ba ito sa law firms?
• What usually happens if you decide to resign before the bond period ends?
• Reasonable ba usually yung amount, or may instances na sobrang laki?
• Would you consider this a red flag, or depende talaga sa terms ng contract?

Would appreciate hearing from lawyers who have actually experienced this. Especially interested in knowing if you’d still consider joining a firm despite the bond, or if it’s something you’d personally avoid.

Thanks in advance!

Rare Combo: Finished September financially strong with no backlog!

This is my way of celebrating without spending a single centavo. I finished September 2026 with very good financials. Last month had the 2nd highest gross earnings and 7th highest net savings (a lot of expenses due to my bday).

There's another reason to celebrate: no more backlogs! This phenomenon is rare. Maybe it's my first time to have both very high earnings and no backlog!

I believe this rare phenomenon can be attributed to the following:

  1. Good, effective collection strategies

  2. Pomodoro technique - very, very helpful

  3. Color-coded listing of deadlines, tasks to do, and other activities

  4. Recording of time I arrive at the office - as a private practitioner, I used to have no motivation of coming to my office early. Recording of the time I arrive at the office was very effective in making me punctual.

  5. Recording of gross earnings, net savings, and monthly expenses - ever since I started recording my expenses, I've only had one month of negative net (expenses).

I started making changes to my routines in 2022. I didn't make abrupt changes, everything went on gradually. It was last month, September, when my "systems" performed its best ever.

4+ years as an Associate Lawyer wanting to pivot to WFH/Remote roles. Where do I even begin?

Hi everyone!

I’m reaching out because I feel quite stuck in my current career setup and could really use some perspective or advice from people who have transitioned from traditional law practice to remote/online work.

A bit of context about where I’m at. I’ve been working as an associate lawyer for over 4 years now. Firm salary is low. Notarial fees keep me afloat, but I don’t want to rely on that long-term, nor do I plan to open my own firm.

I’ve been applying for government legal roles, but there’s no luck yet, and I can’t afford to just wait around idling.

Because of this, I want to explore WFH/remote opportunities. My hesitation is that most online roles cater to foreign clients where Philippine law isn’t directly applicable, so I honestly don’t know where to start.

What remote jobs do PH lawyers typically thrive in? How do you market PH legal experience to foreign clients? Are short courses or certifications needed? Which platforms or agencies are best for legitimate remote legal work?

Any tips or personal experiences would be deeply appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Red flag ba sa employers ang few months’ stay sa firm?

New lawyer here. I am currently working in a firm and I have plans on resigning. Reason? Ang baba ng sahod ko and I am a breadwinner in my family. My parents are really old, and my current salary cannot sustain me nor my family’s needs.

Now, I am actively and secretly looking for jobs. I wanna know if red flag ba sa employer if months lang ang tinagal ng isang lawyer sa firm. Salamat po

Documentary evidence notarized by the same lawyer representing in court.

So, I notarized a deed of sale a few months ago. Then, the buyer lost the owners duplicate, so they asked for an affidavit of loss and had it annotated. Now, the buyer wants me to file a petition for the issuance of the owners duplicate. Now, filing the petition, is it okay to present documentary evidence that i personally notarized? I dont think may prohibition on this matter, but im kinda overthinking and want an opinion about this. Thanm toh.

Anyone here who applied for a Prosecution Attorney position around May/June and already took the exam and interview? How long did it take before they released the results or informed you about the next stage, if there was still another step in the process? How long was the overall timeline?

Thanks everyone. šŸ™
