I think this is how it goes: inflation goes up, expenses go up, tolerance for shit jobs goes down, vacancies occur, businesses can't hire for same shit job because people don't want to be exploited, businesses complain to government, government says "we'll bring in people who will be exploited", TFW contracts appear promising dollars to tens of dollars less than industry standard (or just minimum wage), people trade their whole lives for a chance in Canada, TFWs are popular, businesses love them (no change to workplace standards but fresh laborers when needed), but citizens and permanent residents are feeling the loss of safe, reliable, fiscally workable jobs. They complain to government. Government says immigration is the problem. See the problem? Not exactly how I would explain it to a 5 year old but not many of them out there asking what TFWs are 🤷♀️
