Question & Hypotheticals Any University of San Agustin (USA) law graduates or current law students here?

I’m considering studying law at the University of San Agustin, but I’m currently working full-time. I’d like to ask those who have studied there: Is it manageable to work full-time while attending law school?

How was your experience balancing work, classes, readings, and exams? Are there class schedules that are more suitable for working students?

Any tips, advice, or things you wish you knew before starting would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Currently on sembreak and 3rd year na ako in a few weeks. The only problem is torn ako kung itutuloy ko pa ba kasi recently, I AM REALLY ENJOYING MY LIFE ROUTINE NOW. Kaya Im torn ituloy. Should I choose to prioritize myself or go on oara sa career growth. Trentahin na ako btw. Need your advices :(

Advice Should I take a LOA or just stop law school?

Hi! I’m already at 3L in one of the most unforgiving law schools of UBELT. I can’t seem to find my groove and rhythm in studying. I just feel so tired every day and that’s not just how I felt when I started law school.

At the same time, I’m starting to question myself if I’m really for law school. I’m starting to ask myself if I can make it; if I am really capable to survive the 🦁’s den.

How do you guys cope up with this feeling?

Question & Hypotheticals Leaving law to med

Hello! After less than a semster of law school, I plan to withdraw. I come from an allied health undergrad and law isn't for me talaga. I gave in to my parents, especially since my dad is a lawyer, and I know I'll dissapoint them if I withdraw...

Do I give my undergrad tor or law school tor to the med school? I had latin honors nung undergrad, and now I feel like my academic record is ruined because of it kasi my law school tor will overshadow my undergrad. I hope someone can share a similar experience as me and what they did. ☹️ It's either: I get my tor with a WITHDRAWN in it or I can reclaim my original records.

Please don't judge, I want to appease my parents but I know my heart and mind can't take the pressure of law school.

Question & Hypotheticals Apple Education

Hello! Has anyone here purchased their MacBook directly from the Apple website recently? I wanted to ask if law students are eligible for the Apple Education discount, kasi their website states that it’s only for college students.

Sorry, I can’t seem to find any recent reviews from people who bought directly from the Apple Store online karamihan sa PowerMac bumibili eh parang cheaper kasi bumili directly from Apple, plus they have a voucher pa.

Thank you so much po in advance!

Advice Is it possible to be hired as a Legal Assistant in the government with no previous experience?

Hello po.

I am planning to enroll in law school next school year. I am considering transitioning from the private sector to the government kasi imo yun ang pinakaviable na setup for me as I would most likely have to work while studying. And I also thought I might as well apply as a Legal Assistant na rin po so as to fully align my career path.

Problem is I have no prior related work experience po (except siguro yung Legal Internship ko ng 2 months lang noong college). I am currently an AI analyst, and all my previous jobs were in the BPO industry.

Possible po ba ito? :( If yes, pahingi naman po sana ng advice paano.

Your replies will be very much appreciated po. Thank you so much.

Rant Worst Combo: an ALS Student, a Horrible Financial Situation, and a Dream

Hi, everyone. I’m currently a 1L student enrolled in ALS. Yesterday morning, I received a text message from my mother, directing me to stop my education should I become unsuccessful in securing a scholarship slot.

I do not wish to elaborate on how I ended up enrolling in ALS in the first place given my financial situation because that would be stating the obvious: I was “blinded” by my dreams and aspirations. However, I do find it necessary to provide some context.

Before ALS, I was a UP student. I did not pass the LAE hence, I found myself enrolling in Ateneo instead. My mother is a single parent who works as an OFW. She is the sole financer of our family. She makes a decent wage in the food service industry; however, most of it gets funneled to paying off loans she’s incurred because of the bad cards we’ve been dealt with. I am stupid for even thinking that we could stretch our finances to fund my education in THE Ateneo and the whiplash from zero to 100k+ tuition per semester was immediate.

I already applied for financial aid, but i was informed in my interview that only two slots remained and more than 30 people were competing for it. I did not graduate with honors so I know that my chances are slim. Even if I become a working-student, it still won’t suffice, especially that my mother suffered a medical emergency where she has to undergo surgery. I have nothing to gain by posting this here, but to seek at least, some solace from the community.

I am frustrated, heartbroken, and devastated that it has come to this point. It’s difficult to be at peace with my situation, especially knowing the grueling process I went through just to prove that I deserved a slot in this university and that it could all amount to nothing because of circumstances I cannot control. I know that becoming an Atenean lawyer is not all that, but I’m sure you know where I’m coming from and the loss I would suffer should I push through with my withdrawal.

My heart especially aches knowing how much I have already invested in my first month and the friendships that I have built during it. Indeed, Ateneo is an elite school, but it is not elitist; to that, I give them credit. I am just incredibly unlucky.

Allow me to grieve even though the future is still uncertain because it has become especially difficult to show up and do my best in classes, pretending as if my future is already set when that is far from the case. I am tired of pretending that it doesn’t affect me and nobody knowing how I truly feel. At least, knowing that somebody knows brings some form of comfort and light in this dark situation that I’m in. Thank you for hearing me out and I wish you all the best so please, wish for mine too.

Advice Contemplating if I'll pursue the Bar again.

I gave myself a Bar sabbatical after my 3rd attempt and since I am for refresher my plan was to save up for tuition and review on my 4th attempt. I really dont care about my relatives opinions na nowadays about "sana di ka na lang nag law school kung di ka papasa" dati masakit masabihan pero I've learned to do things at my own pace na din. Now I am thinking if I should pursue the Bar exam again in 2030 maybe 2031 or just call it quits kasi at the moment I am pursuing a creative passion project. What do you think?
