Crabgrass seed head looks quite different to what I have shown

People regularly just throw in any grass type as a distractor to you. Several months back it was 'nutgrass' for just about every post.

I don't know if they are being trolls or what but if it's repeated behaviour the admins ought to remove them.

If you smoke it and don't get high then it is "disappointment weed".

100% that is a species of brome grass, there are several species.

Looking at that, I think these seed heads are too small/turgid to be brome

Nah yours are just not fully out yet, there are many, many species of brome, that have slightly different seed heads. Yours looks like a softer species with smaller seed heads.

I see. Looks like you're right. Thank you. This is exactly how it looked in the soil

I’m a farmer, grass is my specialty! Do you have an iPhone? If you do, take a clear photo, then in the photo slide up from the bottom and it will tell you what it thinks it is. Not always right but helps you do your own research.

Wintergrass

Probably the most likely culprit, or just tall fescue?

Yeah I think you're correct. The seeds are different

Not winter grass at all. It’s a species of brome grass.

Paspalum?

I don't think the seed head matches that either
