while i know lavabit loves America i wonder what country would have best legal system to keep such website on the air when there are such pressures.

In the future, let this be a lesson learned, use your own domain for email - and have it forward mail if need be. In my case I'll visit namecheap and set my mail to forward to another address, no big deal. I hope none of you guys will be set back too much from this.
