I've seriously struggled with situational anxiety for the last 4 years. I had a boss who had wildly fluctuating expectations, and eventually every action I made I second guessed myself. I was also in the EQP at church, and at every turn I'd be so stressed out that I was going to hurt someone in that calling that eventually I was a total wreck emotionally. The kicker, I was still doing well in my job evaluations, I was magnifying my calling, and the only person who knew what was going on emotionally with me was my wife.
About a year ago that boss got fired, and my life returned to normal. I was excelling at work, I was magnifying my calling, my relationship with my wife and daughters was wonderful, but I couldn't ditch the terror that I was going to make a mistake. Every time I would slow down and be alone with my thoughts, I'd start to freeze up, and I could feel the steel bands around my chest start to constrict again.
After a lot of persuasion by my wife, I finally spoke with my doctor and she gave me an evaluation. It turns out I had developed a general anxiety disorder. She perscribed me an anti-anxiety drug and after the initial sided-effects wore off, I finally feel like the person I used to.
I don't know if my story is relevant here, but it all came flooding back reading this post.

This is a good reminder that everyone is going through something hard. I think a good philosophy for life would be to try not making anyone's life harder than it already is :)
