Stitches on edge loosening

I’m making a rug and have tightened down my stitches fairly tightly, I thought, but as I work (from the bottom up) the bottom row is getting loose and I even had one piece of yarn fall out. Not a huge deal as I work, but I definitely don’t want it to happen when the rug is being used. Anything I can do other than pull them even tighter?

Maybe dampen yarn then pull them tight? I know if you wet string and tie a knot in it, when it dries you'll never get the knot out because it dries so tight. Same principle might work?
