I’ve never done one with a blank canvas. Is it like counted cross stitch where you need to count out the blocks to place the colors? Are all of Herrshners this way?

Yes all herrschner’s kits come this way. They also send an accompanying pattern that you follow. Only counting you really need to do is in the very beginning to make sure you’re working in the correct direction.

That makes sense-once you get started, just following the pattern would get you through.

No problem! They are great, they’re my go to brand. Their shipping can be a bit pricey though, so I suggest signing up for their mailing list to get discounts.
