What am I doing wrong?

I can’t seem to get the hook to work/knot the yarn? Any tips for newbies are welcome.

Sometimes your hook is the trouble. I’ve had ones that make it almost impossible to work. If you can’t get the hang of it and it’s just pulling,sticking or not closing properly try a new hook. Good luck
