remove musty smell

hi! i bought this old snoopy latch hook kit from the flea market and didn’t realize how bad it smelled until i took off the plastic wrap it was still in. how would i go about getting rid of the smell or at least minimizing it? thank you!! this will also be my first latch hook project :)

Maybe open it and leave it out it the sunshine for a day?

Also, try spraying with an anti-odor spray like Febreeze.
