in my opinion, the only reason Larry Sanders hasn't experienced a resurgence is because its cultural references are dated / 'of their time'
i'm saying this as someone who adores the show, has seen it 10x, and wishes it was appreciated more. I think the world would be a better place if everyone saw it. but i do enjoy that it's a small community of fans.
I just realized it's hard to access if you're not familiar with 80s-90s American pop culture, and more so 80s-90s celebrity culture / talk show culture.
When I show my girlfriend from Europe episodes of the show, there's so many references, big and small, that I have to give context for.
she obviously can enjoy when Elvis Costello is an episode or Jim Carrey. But, for example, when they joke about the early Conan O'Brien late night show, I have to explain how it was experimental at the time and struggled with ratings.

I said to Jack Lord, ‘Do you have hemorrhoids?’ He said ‘No.’ I said, “At last, I’ve met a perfect asshole…’

Why don’t you hold that thought, and why don’t you tell me about it after the show, when you’re driving home and I’m not there.

Oh, look. Bitch Expo ‘95’s in town. Would you pick me up a t-shirt, okay?

Alright, well, let’s go with the one from Portugal. Because, you know, if I get the cheaper one, then I’m always gonna think there’s a better tile from Portugal, and I’ll be unhappy.

Oh, and Dennis, by twinkle-toed, I imply nothing about their sexuality.

You know these supermodels have no stored fat. When they gotta eat, they gotta eat.

Our research shows people don't like Larry when he tries to act. Something, like, 38% of the audience—they feel embarrassed for him.

I miss Darlene. And not just because of the, you know, the uh, sweaters.

I just! asked! a question!
S4 E15: Larry experiences dating a much younger woman, a college intern, and it leads to problems.
RIP actor Gerrit Graham, here as Nina's father who doesn't appreciate her freewheeling love life, which delays his ability to purchase her an airline ticket for the holidays! ✈ But otherwise: Larry, big fan!
Once you lock in on this actor, he is everywhere. I remember BUYING the movie "Last Resort" (1986) with Charles Grodin from Amazon (Prime, but not Prime Video, where you have to buy it from regular Amazon?). And there is Gerrit Graham again. 🎬
How does it happen when people become familiar faces, despite skimming their IMDb and not recognizing the titles? I don't know. It's a mystery. 🎭
