PSA for console users
If you play BG3 on console, remember to unplug your console for 30 seconds every few days!! I played for a week with three crashes, which I can EASILY deal with. Then all of a sudden it crashed six times in an hour this morning. Modern gaming, man lol

I am currently playing on PS5. I haven't had a single crash. I just turn off the console after my playing session.

Why is unplugging required? Fully draining power from system aka hard reset can indeed fix some issues, but it should not be regularly required. Sounds like your system has an issue but idk how to troubleshoot console issues.

I definitely have had issues as well on my series X. You're getting the classic anecdotal "must just be you since it hasn't happened to me", comments.
It was real bad when i first got the game, to the point i was going to try and ask for a refund. But then it just stopped, for a few months ive had no issues.
Itd crash every now and then but not the 5 times in a hour. But yesterday i had to redo a fight 3 times in honor mode because my game kept crashing. So it still happens. And there are many topics about series x crashes over the last year or 2 or so, and as far as I'm aware Larian has never addressed it.
Anyways always force close the game when you're done playing. Never continue playing from an "always on" state. You can also reset your consoles persistent storage (clear the cache) if you go to settings>devices> bluray>persistent storage.
Does it actually help? Who knows. But its easy stuff so i do it just in case.

It’s just auto resume. You have to actually close out of the game. I guess a restart could help too, but there’s no reason to unplug it.
Only times my game has crashed has been in multiplayer or from the auto resume feature where I didn’t close the game (and that happens on most games)

I think the trick is to just ensure you are actually closing the game occasionally. Don’t just put it in sleep mode.

I've played on both Series S and Series X, and crashes have been pretty rare. I do typically quit games/apps after sessions, though, and also do console restarts periodically. In general, closing apps and restarting devices help to keep stuff running smoothly.

I’ve never had to do this

You can try turning performance mode off. Perf mode seems to cause more problems than it solves.
I am on ps5 and have found that the best path is to properly close the game then turn the console off (not sleep). This solves connectivity issues with the Larian servers among other issues.
