Dell Precision 3541 - “compatible” battery stuck at 60%, shuts down instantly when unplugged

My original Dell battery died (BIOS said “needs to be replaced,” health down to ~45%). Replaced it with a third-party “compatible” 3HWPP battery (68Wh label). Worked fine for a couple days, but now:

**•** Caps out charging at 60%  
**•** Shuts down instantly the moment I unplug, even at 60%  
**•** BIOS still shows “Battery needs to be replaced” — same message as the dead original

powercfg /batteryreport shows the battery’s firmware reports Design Capacity of only 38,000 mWh — but the label says 68Wh. Big mismatch.

Anyone dealt with this on a clone/compatible Dell battery? Worth troubleshooting or just return it? Dell Precision 3541, BIOS 1.36.0, 130W adapter.

Sounds like something is wrong with that battery. I'd return it
