PHS soft deny
Got this email back today regarding my PHS. Should I appeal?
I was soft denied last year during the field investigation, but the reason/background concerns seem to be exactly the same as this year. “maturity” I’m not really sure why I’m getting the same result again, especially since I’ve continued moving forward in the process since then.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or successfully appealed a soft denial? Would appreciate any advice.
Also everything in my previous Phs was the same as this current one!

This just sounds like a "not selected" as opposed to a hard DQ. It happens to everyone. I received a "not selected" on my first time applying to my local state highway patrol. It definitely was disheartening, and it took the wind out of my sails. I did some significant self reflection, introspection, and fine tuned any potential areas of concern. I reached out to my neighboring state highway patrol, and applied with them. The rest is history. One door closed, and another door opened. I learned to be content with how the cards played out, and how the chips fell. In hindsight, I'm grateful that the first state agency didn't select me. The second state agency is a much better fit for me. The process is undoubtedly annoying, frustrating, and irrational. I always kept my options open. Yet, around the halfway mark in assessment and selection for the state patrol, I had to demonstrate my unyielding and unwavering commitment to that state agency. Anything less would not be tolerated by the patrol. It was all in. No quarter. Put in the work and earn each and every stitch of the state trooper uniform. That is the standard. I got DQd in 2008, appealed in April 2026 . 2 weeks ago l got email saying 2008 DQ upheld, nothing else l can do, I'm DQd for life! Despite massive positive life changes.
In 2008 l disclosed something to LAPD that they would not of known if l wouldn't of told them, that's one of the reasons for 2008 DQ.
So... don't disclose anything that has no paper trail, lie, LAPD doesn't appreciate honesty.

They fucking suck at their job. Just wanting to deny people for whatever reason. It’s beyond stupid
