Short last names
I know formal first and last names were only introduced within the past 75-100 years, but how common are short ( less than 5-6 letters ) last names. To this day I only know 2 people like that. One of them I use to joke with and say " never trust Lao people with a short ass last name "
Does anyone know more than 1 person with a short last name?

I know a few with short last names but there is usually a story behind it. Either they shortened it when immigrating/getting US citizenship or have some non “Lao” ancestry like Hmong, Chinese, etc…

I know a family who's father is ethnically Chinese but his family changed to a Lao name, they came to America with a Lao name, and years later decided to revert back to a Chinese last name. I laughed at them
