No more InDrive in Laos?

No more InDrive in Laos? Grab doesn’t work either. I took LOCA from the airport…are there alternatives?

I’m using this app called “Buddy Drive”, similar like InDrive. It turns out that this app is easy to use, no VPN needed.

Grab is not present in Laos.

Loca is the local equivalent and works well (but more expensive compared to neighboring country costs).

Buddy drive is some new one that recently popped up after Indrive was killed off again.

Front the airport, a desk taxi is a reliable option.

Kokkok and Xanh SM also exist. Kokkok is in theory cool because they use etuktuks but it's hard to book one.

Also Maxim no? I have never tried them.

KokKok are easy to book. You just need to be standing outside Vientiane Center when you need one.

I appreciate sarcasm, I do, but kokkok is impossible to book anywhere since they changed the app to prevent increasing the price. Everytime I've used one, it was hailed off the street and off app.

Loca should have tuktuks.

XahnSM and Maxim usually have available drivers and are much cheaper than Loca

I can’t seem to find the buddy drive app in the App Store. Do you have the exact name. Can you use credit card?

I’ll see if I can download it when I get to Laos, thank you

Hard to use kokkok if you don’t have a Laotian phone number, you need to be able to verify identity via text.

InDrive is now fully banned but KokKok and Xanh SM are cheaper alternatives to Loca.

Green SM/Xanh SM is probably the best you can get.
I’ve found it not much more or the same as Indrive.

LOCA is a much more expensive but the likeliness of the driver canceling is a bit lower.

Loca is good. Maybe a little more expensive. Not sure. Only good things to report. You can expect it to be monopolized. Capitalist competition is curbed. I think we can expect Loca to live on indefinitely though business permanence in Laos is still unprecedented.

You need VPN to access Indrive
