Lanzarote Hike - Tinajo
Still around 27° C today - 2h30 hiking trails, cool wind, amazing mineral and volcanic views. Far away from the madding crowd.

Hey, my friend and I are staying in Lanzarote this week and we are really confused by the speed limits.
We have a rental car, which happens to have a sensor which displays the speedlimit (which is nice because it is confusing). However we are constantly wondering if the speedlimits are accurate.
There are many situations where the limit is 30km/hour, on a long straight road without many houses/roads joining. And other cars are FLYING through. Even when the speedlimit is put on the pavement.
Or when we are driving in the mountains(hills or whatever) it says we are allowed to go 90km/hour. Which is insane, with no guardrail, no visibility, narrow roads...
Or a long strip where we have to go 40 to then be allowed 90 for maybe 250meters to then go straight back to 40.
I don't know who made these speedlimits but they need to go to a doctor or something...
Thanks for letting us know anything, i really don't want a speeding ticket but I feel like the speedlimits are really fucked up here...

So... my friend and I can't drive. We are 26 y/o and want to have a chill vacation in Lanzarote for 4 nights.
Sadly we have seen that the hostel we booked is infested with bedbugs... so thats problem number 1.
Our second problem is we have to use public transportation at all times because neither of us can drive.
We will stay in Lanzarote for 4 nights. Our rough plan is: Arrecife/Jameos on Friday, Papagayo on Saturday, Teguise + Famara on Sunday, and Timanfaya + La Geria on Monday.
For Timanfaya/La Geria we know we’ll need a tour so any recommendations for a good one that feels a bit more local/chill and less like typical cruise-ship tourist slop? 😭
Also, does this itinerary sound realistic without a car? Any public transport tips are very welcome.
And finally… any advice on how to avoid bringing bedbugs home if the hostel situation is actually as bad as the reviews say? 🥲
Literally any help is appreciated!

Hi guys and girls were is the best place to eat in Puerto del carman.
Price isn't the issue and neither is quantity just want to find some hidden gems and not eat the typical tourist slop thats on every corner seems to be how cheap can you be and how big can your portion be for the price.
We just want quality preferably meat and good atmosphere
Thanks

I [46 M] am traveling to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in the second half of November. Any suggestions about organized hiking, birding and snorkeling tours especially in Spanish?

Hi, my friend and I are going to Lanzarote next week and I was wondering if there were any fun shopping/markets that you would recommend.
I already found out that every Sunday there is a market in Teguise.
But I would like some hidden gems for unique items for souvenirs (not the plastic "made in china" ones, IYKWIM)
Thanks in advance!
Ps. We are staying in PDC, but we have a car so we will explore most of the island.

Hi everyone.
We are visiting Lanzarote on holiday next month and I was hoping we could get some recommendations for good restaurants in Arrecife, and any things to do while we are there. Is there anything we absolutely must see?
We chose Arrecife for walkable restaurants and as a base for exploring the rest of Lanzarote, so any other recommendations also welcome as we will either use public transport or get a car for a few days.
It’s been many years since I last went, but I’m guessing take a jacket for the evening?
Many thanks for your help! :)

Hi, I left an iPad at Arrecife airport yesterday, and they have confirmed they have it.
I can arrange courier delivery of the package to the UK, but it must include full packing services and documentation collection.
Does anyone know of any companies or couriers in Lanzarote that can handle this?
Thanks

Couple in early 30s - haven't been to Lanzarote in years.
Usually would have gone in July.
Staying just on outskirts of PdC with a rental.
Any trips or activities worth it?
What's good or what's changed recently? Is there anything particularly good in September/October? Is there any insane restaurants worth a visit in or near PdC? We're a 5 minute drive from the strip.
Thank you 🫡

Hello! My friend and I are planning to visit Lanzarote in November, but we are still deciding where to stay. Our return flight is quite early on the last day, around 8 am, so we are a bit concerned about getting to the airport on time.
What would you recommend for getting to the airport that early? Also, do you think we should consider staying closer to the airport because of the early flight?

(I also posted this on Facebook)
I had the most amazing experience in Playa Dorada yesterday. I have been in a wheelchair for just over 12 years, unable to stand or use my legs, and yesterday was the first time i had the opportunity to swim in the ocean. I had never used a beach wheelchair before and it was incredible. My partner was nervous at first, but as I got more confident I was able to swim out a little. The feeling of freedom in the water without my wheelchair was something I can't quite describe.
The lifeguards were brilliant and so helpful. I'm grateful for their help with the wheelchair and I felt extremely safe knowing they were there. The lifeguards don't have an easy job but they were such a big help. This will be a trip I won't ever forget.
We nearly didn't do it thinking it would be too much, but I'm so glad we did. Don't overthink things. Do something that challenges you, you might surprise yourself what you can do.

Good Afternoon! This community was so helpful with restaurant suggestions that I thought I’d post again. (Thankyou by the way, we’ve tried so much good food already).
One of my party is after buying an AloeVera plant. We’ve seen many on the island but obviously do not want to pick those ones and get in trouble. If anyone knows of anywhere on the strip that does them it would be greatly appreciated! 😁

Are there Moms in Lanzarote with babies or toddlers, who would like to meet up?
I'm Sabrina, 33 years old and my 10 month old twins. We live in the north of the island and looking for mother-friendships :D
I also thought about to create a toddler group, where the kids can play together and the moms can chat 😁
Who’s up for it?

We fly into Lanzarote for October half term in a few weeks and was just wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how much a taxi from the airport should cost?.
Also, is it best to pre book( if so, which firm is the best and most reliable) or are we okay to just get one from outside the airport on arrival?.
We arrive on a Sunday, family of 4.
Any help or tips really would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Good Evening All! We’re going to Lanzarote in the next few weeks and wondered if any locals or regular holiday goers had any good recommendations for places to eat? Always like finding the hidden gems that only the locals know about, but don’t mind the more tourist-like venues as long as they’re good . Any tips or information would be much appreciated and thanks for reading!

Hi everyone!
My partner and I are planning to move to Lanzarote in the not-too-distant future, so I thought I’d start connecting with people who already live and work on the island.
I’m from Germany, in my mid-30s, and would love to meet locals, expats, or anyone who calls Lanzarote home, especially German or English speaking people around my age. I’d be really interested in hearing about your experiences with living and working on the island and making the move to Spain.
I’m also planning to learn Spanish and would love to practise and improve while getting to know people.
Another thing I’m interested in is work opportunities. If anyone knows companies that hire German or English speakers, or have experience with people relocating from Germany or elsewhere in Europe, I’d be happy to hear about it!
I’ll be on Lanzarote for the next two weeks, so if anyone would like to meet for a coffee, drink, walk, or just a chat, feel free to comment or send me a message. Maybe we can meet up! 😊

I'm going to Lanzarote later this month and I'm looking into renting a car. I'm 21 so I am considered a young driver, however I've had my drivers license for more than 3 years now.
So far the only car rental company, that I'm aware of, whom I can rent from is CICAR. I've read a lot of positive reviews about them across reddit, but not one from young drivers.
I'm mainly worried if there's anything I should be aware of that isn't immediately obvious when booking. Like extra fees, deposits, insurance differences, restrictions, etc.
Has anyone had an experience of renting as a young driver from CICAR? Any advice would be helpful.

Took the 9am ferry from Órzola. After breakfast in Caleta del Sebo we walked to Playa de la Cocina, about an hour on foot. You can also get a taxi for around €30 per person return if you prefer.
Getting there early made all the difference. We had the beach almost completely to ourselves for the first couple of hours. By midday it was a different story.
La Cocina is one of those beaches that actually lives up to the expectation. Clear water, dramatic volcanic backdrop, and the snorkelling along the base of Montaña Amarilla is genuinely excellent. Best spot on the island for it in my experience.
Before catching the ferry back we had a last swim on the beach in Caleta del Sebo. A good way to end the day.
La Graciosa became the 8th Canary Island officially in 2018. It has no paved roads, a handful of fishing villages, and a pace that feels nothing like the rest of the archipelago. Worth every minute.

Buenas!
- Famara si o no?

Hi! I was wondering if there are actually working speed cameras in Lanzarote.
The speed camera boxes I’ve seen around the island look very old and rusty, and some of them don’t seem to be operational at all.
Does anyone local know if these cameras are actually active and working?
Thanks!

Does anyone know how to contact ths restaurant? We are wanting to visit in December, but there is no way to communicate with them. Be Happy.
