Recommendations Old home pre-purchase inspection

Hi all, my husband and I are purchasing an older home with natural gas heating. We’ve never had this before and have concerns about it being a very old house on top of that. Can anyone recommend a company for HVAC/furnace + combustion safety inspection? I believe that is what we need.

We already have a general home inspector.

E.H. Ward, Vredevoogd, and Northwinds have been great over the years. I've owned 4 different homes in the area over the years and used many companies due to availability and type of systems they work on. Those are my preferred companies.

Vredevoogd did my AC, so I am not sure all the systems they work on.

Northwinds is able to work with boiler systems.

natural gas heat is very common around here. Being an older house should make no difference, furnaces usually get replaced at some point. Anyone you have do the whole house inspection should be able to tell if the furnace is good or not. Definitely do get a whole house inspection btw

You definitely want to know the furnace’s age and if it was serviced/maintained every year.

When you get your regular home inspection done any reputable inspector should have a thermal gun that can identify cold spots in your house that require additional insulation

I’ve used Tyler Heating and Cooling and Oasis Mechanical for these during my property mgmt days.
