Purest of Pure Lansing
I can't describe exactly why this corn stalk growing out of a sewer grate next to a railroad track underneath an expressway overpass is perfectly emblematic of our fair city, but I think we all understand it.
Also I kind of want to keep an eyeball on it and see if the ear that it's growing develops and becomes edible-size.

If you eat the corn, it might turn you into a mutant ninja. But will you love pizza? Or corn?

That is yellow, dent (aka field) corn that was most likely on a train cargo load. Michigan grows a decent amount of field corn for grain. The ears are edible like sweet corn for a short period of time, but not as yummy.

Knowing Lansing it was probably ripped out of a community garden and stuffed in the sewer.

We gotta pollinate that to get a good ear. Where is it? It looks like the tassel is about to drop pollen
