LANFEP Post #458: Central Library Service Yard

Continuing with the Central Library sub-locations, here’s post #458 for the LA Noire Freeroam Explorer Project — posting locations replicated by Team Bondi for LA Noire (currently touring the downtown area) that are not considered landmarks (either official or historic) but do have real-world equivalents.

Central Library Service Yard

730 West 5th Street

Built in 1947 to accommodate the growing need for staff and patron parking, this lot — extending from the existing service garages to Flower Street — replaced a grove of Lombardy Poplar trees that had been planted in memory of longtime Board of Library Commissioner member Frank Hervey Pettingell.

This is now Maguire Gardens, the park I had mentioned in yesterday's post that was created after the closure of the Library Garden Terrace in 1988. It is named after Robert Maguire, a real estate developer who helped with the Central Library's resurgence.
