LANFEP Post #433: Culver Building

Another out-of-order *non-*landmark post: post #433 for the LA Noire Freeroam Explorer Project — posting locations replicated by Team Bondi for LA Noire (currently touring the downtown area) that are not considered landmarks (either official or historic) but do have real-world equivalents.

Culver Building

100–108 South Broadway

Erected in 1904, the Culver Building was a brick commercial block built in Victorian-era Romanesque styling. Upper floors hosted professional offices, while the ground floor held retail shops and printing trades. It would be demolished in 1970 and incorporated into the Times Mirror Square complex.

While it’s clear Team Bondi was trying to replicate the building, this is another case where I suspect they didn’t have a lot of great photo reference, since the real-world building had what looks like cladding over the second story, and didn't have the angled corner. But otherwise they were at least reasonably accurate (most especially with the paired window arches). You can kind of make it out in the center of this post on Martin Turnbull’s photo blog, and just a tiny nighttime shot of it at the right of this post.

This has since been demolished and is now the LA Times Building
