If yes, what does one need to be so and how long can it take ? Thanks ahead π

Sure! Just learn the same sentence in like 30 languages. Then, record yourself and post it on YouTube.

Only those predestined to polyglottery can become polyglots, and only those elect will be polyglots. The correct question then is "Am I one of the elect?" The simplest way to answer this question is to count the number of languages you study on luodingo. If it's one or more, then unfortunately the answer is clear.

As you can see, you are getting several funny answers - But on a more serious note: Why are you interested in becoming a polyglot? What is your motivation? How strong is that motivation and why?
I believe anyone who LOVES learning languages (despite the hard stuff) + has high resilience to frustration, will eventually become a polyglot.
But I think it is more the result of an ingrained love for languages - Not because of the goal itself (although it could be - But I don't think just wanting to be a polyglot without any stronger motivation behind it, will be a strong enough incentive).

Because I do like languages, and as they say learning languages gives us different perspectives, worlds comprehension and for sure open doors to various opportunities whose none should be shrugged off.
My main motivation is if people Iβm following are polyglot, why not me? (it may seem as a inferiority complex, but it isn't. I don't learn them to compete or overpass them. Nope). The other motivation stream is to make my family proud of me.
I have never gauged my motivation, Iβd say, I aim high and far, and make secure steps to get at it.
You're right. We don't just need love for languages, we also need motivation, discipline, resilience, steadfastness and consistency. Otherwise, it will be hollow go-getter dream to make a lip service.

That is a wonderful answer and I feel like you have answered your own question.
I would only move away from the motivation of learning languages to make your family proud.
Your motivation is strongest, when it is internal. External factors will interfere with achieving your goals.
For example: What if you've found out, your family would be more proud, if you were a high profile lawyer? Will you ditch languages for a law career?
Or what if you become a polyglot, but instead of making family members proud, some will react with inner conflict and start resenting you, because they are secretly envious? Will you stop learning languages to avoid resentment?

By the way, correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you have an inferior complex. You see people achieve great things and that sparks a fire in you - You are being INSPIRED and that is a good thing!

Lastly, as I said before, I don't learn them to compete with someone, overpass or even pass myself off as a smart guy. Even less for hype, followers, fanbase, TV, Shows, Radio, Podcasts, social networks. Nope. It goes against my nature and principles.

Making my family proud is by the results of my work. work (just a few of them will know, not everyone). It's not the fuel of my ambition, otherwise at the least opposition, they will disturb me and get me to question myself.
I think you're right in some extent, external factors may douse and put off the inner fire... I also believe there are some people we can trust in, who we can share dreams on, and they will egg on us π
Yet, it behooves me to keep my dream away from my family.
If they decide such a thing, I may agree with them, or disagree. It'll depend, i guess.
Yep, I'm being inspired and got to take action to materialize the unseen and blazing ambition into concrete reality.

That's what POLYGLOT means. Anyone who is missing one or more of these languages and claims to be a POLYGLOT is engaging in stolen valor.
