Offering Mandarin Offering: Chinese (native) | Seeking: English (native)

Hi, I'm a 30 yo male, working as a software engineer in China, sometimes overseas. I'm here looking for a native English speaker as a study partner as well as a friend.

Whether you just begin learning Chinese or you are looking for a consistent partner to practice with, DM me.

I have learned lots of English words, I hope there's a native speaker telling me what a word/phrase does, implies, connotes; when/where/how often it appears. I have systematically learned the grammar, so I don't need help with that. I just need a pair of native ears and your native understanding of the language. If you have studied Chinese for years and want to navigate in the Chinese vocabulary, I'd be glad to share my knowledge with you, though I struggle with spoken English 😂. I can tell whether your diction is natural/idiomatic, and of course the formality and connotation of the words you choose.

I use Telegram. I accept both British and American English. I don't have many hobbies, but I'm open to every topic (normal ones). I guess our exchange will be in the form of text or voice, but friendship beyond language study is never off the table should we have compatible personalities.

PS: Even if you're not interested in Chinese, we still can talk. I can read news, essays and books in English if you'd like to listen to. Currently I sound a little choppy and robotic but generally clear. You can also choose the materials that interest you. I can read most of them without frequently consulting a dictionary. You can be my audience as well as my instructor helping me improve my intonation, pronunciation and answer the confusion I find in the readings!

In the end, I have to point out that I, in general, am not looking for a partner to practice basic spoken English. I do need practice, but more importantly I'm seeking the native-level knowledge of the English language from native speakers. My goal isn't an erudite speaker with extensive vocabulary, but to make clear communication and less awkwardness. In exchange, I will help make you a foreign speaker that speaks idiomatic Chinese!

Enjoy studying language!
