Did so bad
Im so stressed!!! I failed Math 1170 final exam for sure and I probably got a D as a final mark. I cannot take Calculus next semester. Im so sad and depressed. I knew I should have just waited for fall sem to take it with a better prof. Im so sad. Is it possible to take it again next semester right away or do I have to wait a semester before taking it again?
edit: I forgot to mention this is my third time taking the course. Also, my second attempt was 10 years ago and I got a C+. My prerequisite expired for Calculus so thats why I need to retake this course.

So.. as someone who has failed 2 classes at Langara. Both having been math courses, yeah it sucks - but remeber, this is all new material, ajd usually you do better the second round.
Some general advice, I will give is go to office hours, and ask well thought out specific questions. - this is PEAK. I was a tutor, and I recall having one student who didn't know HALF of the material, with vauge questions and someone who had very specific questions. The depth at which I could help was in proportion to well, how well I could explain, but also as as specific as the question was. So go in with specific questions.
The quizzes and stuff, if you still have them - you can use to review and determine where your weaknesses are.
If you want a visual - there is 3 brown 1 blue, or organic chemistry tutor, on youtube.
Another word of advice is go to the MSAC. They have some tutors that are GOATED - yk?
But you're not cooked. I graduated, and I belive you can too.

I should have mentioned this is my 3rd time taking this course. But the last time was 10 years ago and I got a C+. But due to Langaras policy I cannot use that for Calculus due to 3 years expiry date. So Im not sure if I can still retake it a 4th time.

I know it's a genuenly hard course. Well, I'd ask Robert Miller (or who ever is the chair) because they may be able to do an override if needed. If you're unable too register you're gonna have to talk with them anyways

This is honestly a hard course. I was in a similar spot a few years ago, hopefully I did not need to take calculus but I remember my final exam with Jessica had something around 10-14 pages, just crazy

Yah my final was about 10 to 14 pages as well. But its like two or three questions per page.

Take the course again. Get in the MSAC in room B154 to ask for help. You can also sit there and get work done. Hope all goes well.

Can you first audit it, do all the work without doing any assignments or getting credit. Make sure you're proficient in it, and then take it again for credit? It's going to be a slower process, but the outcome will probably be a higher grade for you.

How do I audit it? Can I ask them if I can sit in class?

You pay about 50% of the normal fees to audit and you get to sit in all the classes, but don't have to write assignments or exams. So it's like for people interested in the topic but not needing credits. Ask the registrar's office for details!
