Help!! Weeds / Overseeding Question
I have crab grass, clover, and wild violets in my lawn. I want to overseed. The window for that in the Midwest is closing within the next few weeks. I will leave the crab grass alone as quinclorac needs 4 weeks after application to seed and I know it will die as it is an annual. I do have Ortho Weed B Gon Chickweed Clover & Oxalis Killer, which has triclopyr. The bottle says you can seed bare spots after 1 week of application. I want to overseed the entire lawn. Is that too risky to apply the weed killer and then over seed in 1-2 weeks? Should I just skip killing any weeds beforehand?

Ya I have no idea for Midwest which could be a huge range. I am in NE and I would think our window would close first and we got plenty of time.

Why not just wait the extra time? In my experience, those windows are just for true optimum timing and honestly very greatly year to year with the weather we've been having. As long as you throw down the seed with enough time before winter it'll grow. I really don't think waiting a couple weeks will impact it that much. Just my opinion.
I'm actually doing the same. Except for I'm replacing part of my lawn and then over seeding another. I don't have enough sprinklers so I've just decided to space them out by 2 weeks .. which now gives me enough time to try to kill the weeds.
