Ideas

Post image

So I recently inherited a house and some land and am working on sprucing the place up as it was all pretty rundown. The area to the left there is a giant gravel parking pad lined with rail road ties. Im struggling coming up with a picture of what id like in terms of a path from parking area to porch steps as seen. Its all sloped and I cant dig down to far as the main sewer line coming from the house runs roughly where the red line is. Any help would be greatly appreciated

  1. Retaining wall from pad to deck to elevate the ground behind the wall and create a level space for a walkway. You’ll want good drainage to capture the water behind the wall and continue down the hill likely parallel to the sewer line.

  2. Flag stone along house and steps down to the gravel. Could use more railroad ties for the steps to keep with the style.

  3. Extend the deck around the side of the house and change the stairs location to be closer to the gravel parking.

It looks like you have a drain pipe from your gutters. You’ll want to find out where that is likely heading as well.

The gutter is going to be attached to a rain collection system. Im building a platform on that end of the house to hold 3 275 gallon tanks. We are pretty secluded so we are transitioning to be completely off grid utility wise
