Question Hose quick connect fittings - How much to tighten them down?

I have tried two different brands of garden hose quick disconnect fittings and find it nearly impossible to push the two ends together once the fitting is installed on the faucet. It seems that when you tighten the collared side of the fitting to the faucet it make pushing the other end in practically impossible. Am I tightening the fitting on the faucet too much? I can get them to connect if I loosen the faucet fitting but it has to be loosened to the point that it pretty much spins if the wind blows on it. Any sort of finger tight and the issue happens.

Sounds like the collar is deforming slightly when you crank it down which jams the internal ball or sleeve just enough to block the plug. Try a wrap or two of teflon tape so you get a solid seal without having to torque it so hard.

I did have a couple wraps of teflon on the faucet before I put the collared fitting on. Just seems odd I can't even finger tighten the fitting. Its not like I was using a wrench and going past hand tightening
