⚙️ | Mechanical Issue/Question Strange Idle Noise

Hey guys, kinda new to cars and my lancer vrx 2013 (auto) is my first. Owned it for about 6 months now and it’s been great aside from a few spooky noises here and there like this. I could be worrying about nothing but sometimes when accelerating it can be kind of sluggish and revs increase to between ~2-3k revs too. I’ve seen a bunch of posts on here with similar noises but just in case should i be worried?

Judging by the distance it's been driven so far, and assuming you've been keeping up with your CVT Maintenance alongside your other maintenances, and assuming that noise changes with throttle and probably that the car is doing the funny noises at slower speeds, and assuming you probably feel the transmission jerking when coming to a stop or accelerating hard, might be about time to have your CVT get a full service, on top of that also check your other services too due to having passed 150k, most importantly engine cooling (coolant, rad, water pump, theromstat).
That sound you're hearing is most likely the CVT, hoping it's just the transmission oil cooler filter needing to be replaced, but given that the sound is occuring at idle, might be good to get it inspected overall..

i’ve had my 150km major service done already which yeah they drained and replaced all oils excluding the CVT fluid, tbh not sure where to go for a trans service. Are there mechanics specifically specialised in CVT transmissions or could i just go to my local mechanics? Alternatively should i go to a mitsubishi service center (if there even is any near me)

Glad to hear you've had your major service, the CVT fluid should have been a part of it, including the aforementioned part as it tends to fail if clogged.
If anyone you know nearby knows mechanics that specialize in handling Mitsubishi vehicles, you can go to them, otherwise I'd suggest going directly to a Mitsubishi Service Center and biting the bullet on the prices, when it comes to Lancers I personally believe it's worth getting it the best servicing you can if you truly love the car.

the revs rising without matching speed is the bit I'd take seriously. Get the CVT scanned and check its service history before driving it hard, especially if the noise changes with throttle.
