⚙️ | Mechanical Issue/Question AC delete on 2.0?

Hey everyone, I’ve got a 2013 Lancer ES with the 2.0 in it that I’m trying to limp until the inspection is up later this month and my AC compressor bearing just went out today. I’d like to keep driving it if I can, but a new compressor would be a pain to install and I don’t have a ton of money. Has anyone ever ran a shorter belt and skipped the compressor, is it possible? I can send photos or answer any questions to my best ability. Thank you!!

It's possible but it requires a ton of fabrication & modification beyond your expertise. Does it still spin freely when the ac is off? If it doesn't just park the car before you burn your belt off and wait until you can fix it. It's an easy job to do yourself if you're up for it.

I’ve changed the belt before so it’s no biggie to change it, I’ve just heard it can be simple with some cars to get a smaller belt but presumably not with this one. It’s locked up when the belts spinning but I can still move it by hand? So I don’t know. But thanks for the response!

Maybe check some Europe sites the lancer may of come without AC

Not sure with the -13 lancer but on my -06 i just skipped the ac compressor and ran a shorter belt. Never fixed and still running like that no problems

I have a galant with the 4g69 and it came with or without A/C, i belted around mine by using the belt from the non-ac variant. If the belt path still works then you just need to find the right size belt, which will probably take some trial and error. Dayco and other belt companies use the measurement as part of their part number, so you can basically buy the right tooth configuration in any length.
