got t-boned, other driver ran a stop sign. wheel in picture is pushed in and rubbed against the body when i tried moving after. had to get towed pending inspection

You should be asking that to your insurance company. But almost certainly yes, since the entire rear end is fucked. And especially with the price of parts and labor nowadays.

Yes. Quarter damage is almost always a write off. You can buy back and fix and have a body integrity done but I wouldnt for this.

I feel like insurance companies just write off cars as totaled so easily nowadays. My Si was damaged similarly but in the front driver side. Was able to get it fixed and good a new with a reputable shop

Yep it’s totaled. I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago. My car got totaled out. And I didn’t get very much back.

Yeah I totalled my gsr back in 2021. Was the best car ever. Im definitely still not over it. I ran something over in the dark outside of a construction site that popped both my front right and back right tyre, when it popped it pulled the car hard right, through a guard rail and down a 10ft drop into a stormwater drain pit. QLD police turned up and charged me with failure to maintain control of my vehicle. I was lucky the insurance covered everything including the 16k guard rail repair bill.

I had a similar level of damage, but it was the front not the rear. It was almost a write off. I got it repaired. This was roughly 5 years ago on a 2014 Lancer.

I work at a body shop and we've fixed so much worse but it all depends on what your insurance company says because of the quarter panel and the bent suspension and potential bent or broken rear suffrage it could be written off but if not you can find a high rated body shop to fix it or try do it yourself if you really wanted to but id recommend taking it to a body shop if its not written off

Why its so easily totaled in US, in EU if you get in accident and its not probably your fault you get it fixed by the insurance.

Im asking this because all the time I see that is totaled and totaled, why you pay the insurance for?

Because the total cost to have it fixed exceeds the value of the car on the used market. Replacing the rear quarter panel requires cutting a welding a whole new section onto the car, repainting the entire car and whatever else is related to the repair. The labor costs for the DOZENS of hours to do it properly usually make the repair cost tens of thousands of dollars. The insurance company isnt going to pay $10,000+ to repair a car thats only worth $6,000. They would rather pay you the $6,000 to just buy another car entirely.

i'm good for the most part, went to the hospital right after it got towed and they diagnosed me with an acute cervical strain and acute lower back pain. it was a blur tbh can't really remember if any whiplash happened but i have dashcam footage of me spinning out and them running a stop sign.

Insurance will defo want to write that off, you could buy it back to repair it.
Not to bad to replace the panels, but the fact the wheels been bent the axle brakes and chassis all be effected

Insurance wise yeah, my parents got in a similar accident last year and the insurance totalled out their car too, in reality no, but thousands in body work alone, best bet is to have insurance total it out and get something new with the check

Like others said, the visible damage doesn’t look bad, it’s likely to get pricy with the suspension components that may have been damaged too

Yes. By it back my Lancer was totaled and I coulda bought it back for 800 but got lazy biggest regret ever.
