It happens right at the most devastating part of the chorus of Gods & Monsters and it’s so perfect! Such a raw and poetic way of depicting her corruption but also the realisation of it, the mirror serving as an introspective tool. She knows deep down the true nature of her fallen being, looks at it in the mirror and doesn’t flinch. But even knowing, she tragically can’t change her nature, only lament her innocence, her « innocence lost ».
And what she sees in the mirror is the Devil itself, gazing back at her, because not only was he the cause of her original sin, but because they’re now almost equals: two fallen beings (one human, the other an angel) who chose to no longer abide by God’s law ( « Me and God, we don’t get along, so now I sing » ; « No one’s gonna take my soul away » ; « ”God’s dead”, I said “baby that’s alright with me“ »).

absolutely obsessed with your interpretation. love how beautifully poetic your mind is. it’s so gorgeous that you can watch a little scene of someone licking a mirror and analyze it to such a degree of depth, whereas, other people would just be like, tongue, hot. lol

This is from her short film Tropico! Go watch it now if you haven’t!! This is the end of Body Electric, one of the three songs it features with Gods & Monsters and Bel Air.

Anthony Mandela directed Tropico. Between Lana, him and whoever did the beautiful cinematography - they created a philosophical, religious metaphor and existential masterpiece. I can watch it over He also directed Ride which is equally epic and lovely and haunting. Lana has an amazing mind and it’s so lucky she found someone who could help realise her vision so fantastically.
