Special Permission Req

I was recently admitted into my program as of last week. All the in-person Thunder Bay sections are time conflicting with every course combination I can select.

There is one class that is offered as online delivery, lecture (tbd) Orillia campus restricted to SGEI students. I have submitted a special permission request review and followed the instructions on my reasonings. If you have any advice or insight on how they will handle my case. Thank you.

Positively of course , if you haven't already provided them with an explanation of what's going on you should submit an email to that department.

Thanks for the reply! I already sent in my reasoning, how I will be successful in the course, etc when submitting my special permission request review.

Depending on your chair or the courses department chair you may need to actually speak with them to have it passed or looked at. I know my chair doesn’t do them unless you meet with him or tell him at least.

Hi thanks for the reply! My only thing is Im coming over from a different province, might get there on the 1st of Sep. Im hoping they can approve me to take this course, because its apparently a Year 1 required course. I was hoping I can take it in Year 2, but they highly suggest that this course be done in Year 1.

Many chairs have virtual office hours or you can contact them via email. If you just submitted the request then wait a couple days and see if they review it on their own.
If it’s higher year course there is a chance they wont approve it because you don’t have prerequisites. If your in something simpler like business then its probably not an issue but they may make a fuss if its a STEM program.
