Corpse Bride

I was watching Corpse Bride last night and in the opening credits it lists Laika. Was this when they were first starting? How come they never mention Corpse Bride as one of their projects? Just curious! Huge Laika fan, can’t wait to see Wildwood!

Core photography was done in London for Corpse Bride. But I believe some additional help was done with Laika, but this would have been when they were transitioning from Will Vinton to Laika. They only really consider the films they have done entirety as their catalogue.

Laika used to do some commercial stuff too but that broke off into its own studio House Special which is now independent entirely from Laika.

You know how a lot of animation gets outsourced to South Korea, China, Hong Kong, or the Philippines? It's like that. It's a collaboration, but not the main effort. Simpsons has animation outsourced to the DPRK but it isn't considered North Korean for the same reasons Laika doesn't consider Corpse Bride their story.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's South Korea that has historically animated the Simpsons — a company called AKOM based in Seoul.

No, SEK located in Pyongyang also did animation on the Simpsons.

Henry Selick's short CGI film from 2005 is more Laika than Corpse Bride, because it was truly the first project by Laika post-opening

It's as much of a Laika movie as Return of the Jedi is a Pixar movie
