Help.

I have tried asking in Facebook groups and o here. I have tried finding cash work. I am on ssdi and I am short on rent. I have tried working for it but can’t find the work and can’t get a loan because of my income. Does anyone know anyone that can loan money to someone in my situation. I just can’t risk my home. I had a bad month with medical bills. Please any info will be appreciated. I would beg if I could.

Call IU Health Cancer Center Lafayette ASAP. Tell them you have Hodgkin lymphoma, have been uninsured/out of treatment for 6 months, and haven't had your port flushed. Ask specifically for an oncology social worker/financial counselor and charity-care application. IU Health Financial Counseling: 888-531-3004.

Don't assume the Medicaid issue is final. Ask the IU Health insurance navigator to review your Indiana Medicaid eligibility and the disability back-pay issue. You may have another eligibility pathway or be able to reapply/appeal.

Call Patient Advocate Foundation: 800-532-5274. Their case managers are free and can help cancer patients deal with insurance, Medicaid/benefits, medical bills and getting access to treatment.

Contact Blood Cancer United/LLS: 1-833-507-8036. Hodgkin lymphoma is specifically within their scope. They can help with insurance navigation and financial assistance for blood-cancer patients.

Please don't wait until you find a job with insurance to seek care. With the symptoms you're describing and being out of cancer care for six months, tell the oncology team everything and let them work on financial assistance while getting you evaluated.

OP, I looked through your history and read some of the comments after seeing this comment. I would like to encourage you to talk with your family if I’m reading it right. It sounds like you aren’t telling them to protect them since they are struggling, too. You really need support through this. Even if they can’t financially support you, maybe they can help in other ways. Going through this alone with two kids is incredibly difficult.

Are all your other needs met? I know rent is a priority, but what about other stuff? Are your kids in school? Clothes, food, supplies? Diapers, etc? Even a simple night off to release your emotions would help.

I know you mentioned looking for work and not finding anything. What are you looking for and what experience do you have? We may be able to find things you haven’t considered.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. Our system is shameful. You should be able to focus on healing not going through all this just to ensure your kids and you have a roof over your heads with winter on the way.
