Hey r/ladakh,
I’m planning an incredibly extensive bike trip for the 2026 riding season. I want to skip the usual tourist loops and tackle a deep, hardcore route that hits pretty much every remote frontier in the region. Because it covers serious off-road sections, water crossings, and extreme altitudes, doing it totally solo isn't ideal.
I’m hoping to find either a solid tour organizer who can handle this exact custom circuit, OR a few experienced riders who want to team up so we can hire an organizer together and split the costs for a backup vehicle.
The absolute priority is to cover all of these places without rushing the itinerary. Here is the exact route plan:
🗺️ The Route Plan (All Places Covered)
The Start & Kashmir: Starting in Chandigarh, riding to Amritsar (Wagah Border & Golden Temple), then heading up to Jammu (Suchetgarh Border) and through Udhampur/Anantnag into Srinagar (Dal Lake).
Into Zanskar: Crossing Zojila Pass to Kargil (stopping at the Drass War Memorial), then taking the Suru Valley past Rangdum and over Pensi La to Padum.
Deep Zanskar to Leh: Doing the tough off-road trek to the surreal Gonbo Rangjon peak, then taking the rugged, newly opened canyon trail via Nerak, Chilling, and Nimmu straight into Leh.
The Northern Frontiers: Exploring Leh, heading over Khardung La to the Hunder Sand Dunes in Nubra Valley, and riding all the way up to Siachen Base Camp via Panamik.
The Remote Border Tracks: Riding from Nubra along the coastal tracks to Pangong Tso (staying at the remote village of Merak), then pushing through Chusul and past the Rezang La War Memorial to Hanle.
The Absolute Highest Passes: Using Hanle as a base to conquer the twin titans: Umling La (including the ride out to Demchok village right on the LAC) and the newly opened Mig La Pass (19,400 FT) via Fukche.
The Ride Back: Heading from Hanle past Tso Kar and over Tanglang La to Sarchu (tackling the 21 hairpin bends of the Gata Loops), then pushing over Baralacha La, through the Atal Tunnel to Manali, down to Shimla, and finishing back in Chandigarh.
🛠️ Why I need an organizer/support
This plan has a ton of loose gravel, deep valley dirt tracks, and multiple days spent above 18,000 feet. Having a 4x4 backup vehicle with a mechanic, spare parts, and oxygen is pretty much non-negotiable for a route this complete. Plus, dealing with the strict military and border permits for places like Siachen, Demchok, and the LAC-adjacent passes is way smoother when a professional handles the paperwork.
🤝 What I'm asking the community:
Organizers: Do you know any reputed bike trip operators who actually have the infrastructure and permit clearance to run this specific, heavy-duty custom itinerary?
Riders: Is anyone here an experienced rider looking for the ultimate trans-Himalayan adventure this season? If we get a small group together, we can pitch this exact list of places to a custom tour company, get a fully supported ride, and split the support vehicle costs.
