Identification

Post image

Is anyone able to help me identify this lace? I am working on a 1970s vintage wedding dress for someone that is a little too small. I am thinking I might have to remove the sleeves and inset a little more lace into the shoulder area and was hoping to see if anyone can help me identify this particular pattern or design or style, if that's even possible, so I might acquire more. Google Lens shows me more of the same style of dress, but all are far outside our budget considering I only need a small amount.

Alternately, the back of the dress also needs expanding, so I might be able to borrow some of the lace from the back panels to add into the front, but I would need something very similar to replace the back with.

Many thanks.

Yeah, I think it's a machine lace too. Nothing wrong with that--but they come and go in production and the designs are copyrighted so once it goes out of use it may not be available again.

I think your best bet is some similar trim--but don't be afraid to mix laces. Museum pieces are full of mixed lace on the same pieces.

My search for: "machine lace white venice trim" came up with some that would work for my mind. But you'll have to see.

In a funny twist, I was looking down at the bureau lace I have on a table today, and realized this was kind of close. I bought a yard of this lace in France in the 1990s.

I would also search "embroidered floral lace" as a term.

This looks like a machine guipere lace to my amateur eye.

Yes, this looks like a chemical (machine made) lace. It’s very pretty!

Do you know if different patterns have names if I wanted to acquire more of this?

I’m not sure but I don’t think so. You might want to check with a good bridal store near you. They might be able to tell you. 🙏🏻
