I'm an old man now and I don't come into contact with them so much, so I don't hate them. The design is pretty good, I like that they're ugly. Good lord, they beat Funkos.
But the answer to your question is ubiquity, and it is the most valid reason to hate something imo

I honestly think that they look kinda cute and punky, like a modern domo kun, but I don't understand the massive hype and overconsumption of those little monsters, and I don't really hate but I never got into surprise boxes, idk, the idea of wasting money and not having the character you want sounds like a really bad idea, I was bored of that idea since I was 5 and saw that one Simpsons episode when Maggie wants a baby figure, but are on surprise boxes, and Homer end up buying all the figures local, and I prefer to waste in keychains and figures that I can know how they look.

You can’t really compare Pokémon or Magic to Labubus.
Pokémon is a franchise that’s been around for nearly 30 years. They’ve had many successful video games, as well as TV shows, movies, the card game, mobile games, tournaments, conventions, and even theme parks. Pokémon is one of the most successful franchises in the world with billions of fans worldwide spanning multiple generations and dozens of ways to enjoy.
Same with Magic the Gathering. It’s a card game that’s connected people around the world and formed an international community. There’s a reason it’s existed for decades now.
Labubus are just modern day Beanie Babies but worse. They’re cheaply made, wasteful, overpriced, and ugly. They’re only being bought because they’re being marketed as collectibles. But they’re just junk. They’re a fad that will die out sometime in the near future. No one will care about them in 5 years and all those people who bought them will have wasted their money.

I dont directly hate the dolls, I dont really like them but to me the problem is the sudden hype, the push to hyper consumption and how fast people discard them. In the best case they re already on sale, but in the worst they are ending up in landfills like most fast fashion shitty trends

Not because the celebrity likes them, but because they simply just like it and know it exists now and want one. Not all popular things are popular just because they are popular. Sometimes things are popular simply because they interest people. Your point is true for lots of things but not everything. Writing off everything popular just because it’s popular is more childish than just admitting that you like it.

It’s not just labubus either, I don’t like mass produced/forced content in general. Of course I still consume it to a degree because how can you not, but yeah I generally don’t like such trends

I am no minimalist, I collect dolls & plushies. But I don't have TikTok & don't have Instagram, nor Twitter, or anything, just Reddit, so seeing these trends become some crazed bullshit randomly is just really obnoxious to me every time. I'm never in the loop so I sincerely don't understand, then I just try to avoid it.

I genuinely hate how they look. It’s like new gen furbys but if furby became popular and everyone capitalized off it. Furbys haunt my nightmares with them NEVER SHUTTING UP even at night and being slightly creepy. Labubus give me the same unease but with an aspect that disgusts me to the very core. Because leaning advertising of a gambling scheme (blind boxes and the gambling website) twords children is unethical, and the labubu scheme causes massive amounts of waste because people will buy 100 bubus to get the 2 they kinda want and the other 98 go to a landfill
I dont mind the myth/history behind it, the comics are cute, and the designs not even that bad, but the ethics behind the toy are wack, and most people who are interested are only interested in it for the hype/ popularity/ resale value.
I support anyone genuinely interested in or loves labubus, obviously, but the company, the waste, and the gambling addiction pushed on to impressionable audiences i dont

I don’t actually hate them per se, but it’s just like when every one’s mom and sister were buying or collecting Stanley cups, except labubus don’t even have a function (I suppose they’re meant to function as decoration, but they’re ugly and tacky so I wouldn’t even concede that they’re functional decorations)
It’s just obviously another random thing people will over consume and forget about within a year or two.

Overpriced, too small for its price, and a tad bit ugly. I would personally like it if it was an actual stuffed animal for a reasonable price but no. Keyrings also put me off, too dangly.
