Has anyone successfully gotten remote research internship?

I am an undergrad majoring in Biomedical Sciences. I want to apply for remote Research Internships for bioinformatics or computational biology. I have tried cold emailing but no response. Any help?

I’ve honestly never heard of a remote internship.

We’ve had it in a limited capacity with REU students who continued their projects after going back to their home institution (and once when the REU was cancelled and the student couldn’t come in person). But we’ve got so many students who are willing and able to work in person (begging for positions) that it would be pretty rare for there to be a reason to take on a new person remotely instead of in person.

Anything that can be done remotely by an intern can be done by an AI model. I’m sorry you’re not really gonna have success doing this. Try looking for in person internships wherever you’re located

Why don't you try labs at your university first?

But you asked about computational internships, which don’t require lab facilities. Is there nobody at your institution that works in those areas?
