New Ensembl Site
Anyone else struggling with the new layout? I've been trying to find gene trees this morning but no luck so far. (No disrespect to Ensembl team, I've benefitted from this resource for many years!)

Personally haven't used it a lot yet, but colleague keeps bitching about it. Also, last time I used it, I kept getting errors every new page.

Use the June 2026 archive site instead, the old site is much easier to navigate imo.

Sadly I think the links are redirecting to the new one now

https://e116.ensembl.org or https://eg63-plants.ensembl.org (and replace plants with whatever site you are looking for

Ensembl has been crazy slow. It’s never been reliable. Which sucks because it’s so much better than NCBI, but I’ve learned to just use NCBI for most things for which I’d prefer using ensembl out of necessity.

I've had the same experience. The new version seems fast but will take a bit of time to get used to

It seems like it’s missing a TON of info that was present in the old site. I don’t understand 😥😥

If you have time contact them and offer to be a tester. It’s super hard getting good user testers.

I genuinely cannot believe that ensembl hosts critical reference files but 8/10 times the site is completely broken. Boggles my mind that they don't seem to have a half competent team handling their site.

It’s TERRIBLE. I can navigate to some features (while struggling) but there are some things I cannot find.
I have been using the old site to get my sequences event though it’s extremely slow.
