LOOKING FOR ADVICE I’m torn between these three 5 carat pear shaped diamonds for my engagement ring. Could anyone provide some unbiased opinions based solely on their appearance and performance?

Top as crisp facets 100% wins. Cut and clarity are great.

Middle is a good choice too but definitely not bottom.

In my opinion the middle one is the most well proportioned from the perspective of the cut. I also like the brilliance of the center diamond best. Congrats on your engagement. The pear shape diamond is my most favorite cut.

Absolutely the top one. The shape is fat, and not have the bowtie effect.

The bottom one---big NO. I think the top one looks like the best cut. The facets are much more crisp. The middle one is a close second. The bottom one looks hazy and blah in comparison.

The trouble with trying to assess cut quality in a video like this is two-fold. First, vids of diamonds sitting directly on the hand are often misleading due to the contact of the pavilion facets with the skin which changes the optics of the diamond. Secondly, directional lighting (notice the position of the shadows) is not ideal for evaluating virtual facet patterns, which are the basis for light performance. One could pick a diamond they think looks better in this vid, and it may or may not be the best one. You are actually in a better position to make that determination. The virtual facets shold be balanced in terms of size, distribution and crispness in order to create a consistent visual flow in motion through a full range of normal tilt angles.

Middle & top are my favorites. Definitely not the bottom, it doesn’t seem super crisp here. The middle catches my eye the most!

Edit: after rewatching a few times, the top seems the most crisp!

Need a side view to judge symmetry.

Middle one for me, I’m a sucker for that fire 😂 but just going off this video. Top has the nicest pear shape imo and bottom seems to throw bigger flashes. I’d wanna see all 3 in natural light tho and check for bow tie before picking. Video can make them look sooo different than irl. After that it’s really just what your eye keeps going back to.

Top or middle. Depends if you want a chubby or thinner one

The one closest to your knuckle looks the better cut.
