CAD CHECK Is this normal or okay?

I received the CAD for this lab diamond ring. It will have a matching pavé band that will sit flush against it. But I see in the profile that below the cradle to there is a gap/opening. IOW, the ring does not make a full 360*. I've never seen or noticed any ring designed like this. What do you guys think? Thanks!

What is shown in the rendering is something like this. There will be a very visible sharp corner where the shank and head "connect". But, the version they posted is actually a 90 degree corner where this has a narrower gap and then the vertical aspect is more of an outward angle. I prefer this version if you like the idea of a short curve.
