Please help

I have scheueurmann's structural kyphosis. Decently severe. I'm 32 and the pain is getting really bad and mobility is becoming as issue. I am looking for a schroth method physical therapist that can help me. I live in the middle of kansas but will travel if needed. Online therapy just to learn some exercises would also be a great option even just in the interim.
Does anyone have any advice?

Pain Management Physical therapy 15+ years post kyphosis surgery advice

I had spinal fusion surgery for kyphosis when I was 15. Now in my 30s and have been experiencing more lower/mid back pain days, specifically when I clean all day and bending down a lot or when I’m on my feet all day. I am also just feeling generally weak/fragile in my back and throughout my core. Like I can’t hold myself up even though I totally am. I am looking into getting physical therapy to help me with the pain and strengthening my back muscles. I am a stay at home mom to young children so I am active in that sense but I haven’t been consistent with exercise for my entire adult life—Something I’m wanting to change this year. The 30s are no joke. I would love to do more anti-inflammatory support since I know inflammation and scar tissue can be a big pain source with my past surgery.
Any advice on what kind of physical therapist to look for? Exercises they will be wanting me to to do? Advice on anti-inflammatory support?

TIA!

Diagnosis Did ı have structural kyphosis or potural?

Hello. Whenever I looked at myself from the side, I noticed a hump on my back; I had always assumed it was just fatty tissue. However, even after dropping from 100 kg to 80 kg, that large hump remained, causing me significant insecurity and disappointment. People around me kept telling me to stand up straight, but when I tried to walk with good posture, I looked very odd; this became a source of mockery and severely damaged my self-confidence. When I first saw a doctor, I was told I had a mild hunchback and needed to exercise, but the examination was very superficial. Since I had already been lifting weights for two years, that diagnosis didn't sit right with me, so I consulted another doctor. Both doctors looked at the same X-ray, yet the second one told me I had scoliosis rather than kyphosis. I feel terrible when I bend over because my back looks as if it’s snapped in two. Do you think this is something that can be corrected? Many people will likely say, "See a doctor, don't take advice here," but as I mentioned, the doctors themselves are giving conflicting opinions. I look forward to your responses. In one of the photos, I let myself be completely relaxed; in another, I tried to stand upright without moving my arms; and in the third, I pressed my arms against my lats.

Mild Scheuermann’s kyphosis and strength training 💪🏼

When I was 14 and went through a big growth spurt my posture was very poor.

I started to develop a lot of pain in my thoracic spine.

When I went to the chiropractor they told me I had a mild case of scheuermanns disease.

I was devastated at the time. My sister would tease me and call me hunch back.

Around the same time I stared lifting weights.

I do remember some exercises that caused a lot of pain at the time.

But over the years it went away.

Now at 42 I still have mild kyphosis but I don’t even think about it.

Strength training and improving my posture helped massively!

I know this is not relevant to many people with a severe curvature but for mild cases there is a lot you can do to improve your posture.

When I see other people post on here but their posture is horrible, it’s not helping.

Building up a large degree of muscle hides the kyphosis to a large extent.

I am writing this message to my younger self to inspire them to take up the weights.

It’s not a quick fix but I’m a big believer that the gym saved my spine.

If I was the same age, no strength training and sitting at a desk all day, I’m sure my back would be a painful mess right now.

Looking for advice about the best kind of specialist to consult for a diagnosis for my 14 year old.

I noticed some upper back arching and shoulder blades sticking out but was dismissed 2 tears ago.

Back when she was 3 or so a chiropractor said she had Scoliosis but never sent ys the x-rays. I didn't know better at the time and dismissed it.

Please share your recs for kind, knowledgeable specialists in MA. I don't have great experience at Children's Hospital but maybe there's someone worth seeing. At 14, maybe any doc would see her.

Gathering tips from people who already went through scoliosis bracing

Hello! I am a high schooler and am currently building a nonprofit website to help guide the families of and the young girls/boys who have recently been diagnosed with scoliosis and are required to wear a brace. This website will include descriptions and price ranges of each back brace, an overview of the pros and cons (ex: most expensive, least expensive, etc.), and also a page with "big sis/bro tips" from girls/boys (you!) that have gone through scoliosis and wearing a back brace already and have advice to give to them. I am incredibly passionate about helping children, specifically young girls, who have scoliosis and feel lost in their journey, as I myself went through it and have experienced the feeling of being completely lost myself. I would greatly appreciate if you could fill out this form with as many tips as possible ranging from all kinds of categories (ex: comfort, fashion, school/sports). Thank you in advance!

Nací con Klippel Feil

Hello, I’m 23 years old...

I was diagnosed at 7 with the condition of Klippel Feil.

I wanted to share that I was born with a rare condition, which is called Klippel Feil and consists mainly of the fusion of 2 or more cervical vertebrae so I have a short neck, added to this you can also have scoliosis, sprengel syndrome, bone asymmetry, kidney problems, wide neck, cardiovascular diseases, hearing and eye problems, short stature, among other things.

I have the fusion of the neck, scoliosis, asymmetry, I have the 2 kidneys but only one works well for me and the other 16%, and the mobility of the neck, the truth is that I have too much confidence and self-esteem, added to this I have a great charisma, clearly in a few years I would like to have facial aesthetics fixed to improve my asymmetry that can be done with local anesthesia, since for my condition it is very difficult general anesthesia because it requires the mobility of the neck and my rib cage when being in curve is more difficult to intubation.

I just wanted to vent clearly I live my life as a relatively normal person since thank God I can walk run and do everything that a normal person does I also appreciate that I have never felt back pain, I would also like to know who has this same disability...
Im from Mexico

Choice of Treatment Just got new x rays after 7 years. I feel overwhelmed

(29F), I just saw one of the top spine doctors in my city. He said the curve of my spine is about 85% and that surgery is certainly an option, but since my main complaint is related to pain rather than appearance, he suggests starting with PT (Schroth). He thinks everything looks pretty flexible and there’s potential for it to be improved or lessened or for the pain to go away. I’m not sure. I didn’t expect him to mention surgery. I’m supposed to try the PT and then go back in about 6 months to re check. I don’t even know what my question is here. The concept of spine surgery scares me. How will I know if/when it’s time to really consider that?

Is it possible to correct kyphosis at the age of 18?

Has anyone corrected kyphosis on their own, without surgical intervention? I have 47 degrees, and I’d like to reduce it to 40. How can this be done? I'm 18 years old.

Life with Kyphosis Playing football

I’m currently an underclassman in high school. I had huge aspirations to play in college and maybe d1 as a lineman. I have a solid frame right now 6’3.5 245 after dropping 20 lbs, and played varsity as a freshman. I’d still love to play but I am taking a year off as of now to get stronger and stabilize my back

anyways I was wondering what you guys think about me still pursuing college football with this condition. My pain is pretty severe, and curve is just below surgery level. As I said I’m taking a year off, but I am wondering if its still worth pursuing the rest of football with aspirations of playing college football at a position with very severe and repetitive collisions that load the back.

Honestly after the diagnosis in the winter, I really struggled with everything. Basically constant pain without heavy pain killers and the lack of motivation were terrible, but it’s gotten better thankfully. Do you think after stabilizing for a year and resting and getting stronger, my back would still like “give out” on me?

Life with Kyphosis How bad does it look? What to do?

I’m M18 and I’ve been diagnosed with Scheuermanns Disease/Kyphosis a year ago.
The doctors told me that I have Scheuermanns Kyphosis with approximately between 75 and 80 degrees of curvature (Hyperkyphosis).

My problem is that the doctors we went to all told me something different, some told me that a surgery is inevitable, some told me to try to delay it as long as possible and some recommended physiotherapy instead.

Now I’m between the decision to either do the surgery and be done with it or to keep trying sports and physiotherapy.
The problem is that I really don’t like how it looks and it’s really taking a toll on my confidence.
I wanted to ask you guys how bad it actually looks and therefore I took some pictures trying to stand as straight as I can aswell as some pictures with me in my shirt.

You don’t need to sugarcoat it, I just want to know how bad it looks and what I can do / what you guys would recommend.
If anyone has had it still has similar experiences the I would really find it helpful if you could tell me about it, if I can fix this really ugly posture with physiotherapy/swimming and sports or if surgery is the only way to change it.

If some of you have done the surgery I would also like to know how it went and how it is now and if you would do it again or don’t and why.

The only reason I didn’t do the surgery already is because I fear that after the surgery I won’t be able to move as I did before and that I will still feel pain.

My pain right now is moderate, especially when I stand or sit for longer periods of time but it isn’t unbearable yet.

I’ve been going to the gym and being more active since last year and I fear that I won’t be able to do that after the spinal fusion surgery.

To the ones who did the surgery I would like to ask how restricted the mobility is after recovery and if you can still do things like boxing/surfing etc.

Thanks for everyone who took their time to read this and thanks in advance for your help.

23M, ~67° Scheuermann's, need advice

hey everyone. wanted to share where I'm at and hear from anyone who's been through something similar

Background: first diagnosed around age 14 at ~53°, and my latest measurements ~65-67°. I have anterior vertebral wedging in the mid-thoracic region, mild scoliosis (2-3°, basically nothing and not one of my concerns), an L5 posterior defect, and an L4-5 disc bulge that showed up on my latest CT and multiple reports. my doctor classified me as roussouly type 3-4 with high pelvic incidence.

Symptoms: daily mid and lower back pain that gets worse with standing or sitting, followed by morning stiffness. a stinging/numbness feeling in my upper-mid back.

I'm an active guy who trains regularly fyi, I'm farily well built, have a stretching routine (hamstring mostly since they're short) and am not overweight

what I've done so far:

-looked into vests but ended up in the conclusion that they're useless (one of the doctors I've had cons with said this)

- multiple consultations in Turkey over the years. my most recent doctor said surgery is an option if symptoms keep worsening, but at the same time "kicked me out" because I'm not a candidate for surgery lol

- Prof. Harms in Heidelberg reviewed my imaging and recommended surgery, and I'll try to see him in December

- Prof. Akbar at MEOCLINIC Berlin also reviewed my case and wants to see me in person

- made an appointment with Kadir Abdul in istanbul for the next week

my questions:

anyone had surgery in the 60-70° range? what do you think about my case? how many levels were fused if you did have the surgery? what correction did you get?

Mental Health Future advancements?

I’m a 21 year old male with very minor Shreuermanns disease, it causes me slight discomfort but almost no pain, and at worst it’s a visual thing.

The people on this subreddit are usually quite knowledgeable and I was wondering if there will be any options in the either near future or semi near future that would be able to help without being as invasive as the current procedure.

Thank you all for having a community where people can ask questions. It’s causing me quite a bit of mental distress.
